So how did your Mego '18 frenzy go? Me, I just received the last two had to have 'ems on my list yesterday afternoon, so other than a couple that I might like for simple customs, and the ever-present chance that I'll jump off the fence when it comes to Jimi, I believe that I'm done until next year.
I imagine that I grabbed more dollies than some folks, but a whole lot less than many others, heh. I'm not a MOC guy, so almost no doubling up, and I guess I'm a little thankful that the tallish supertypes ended up not being my bag.
Anyway...
Made a list of my wholly typical choices and the mostly bland paths I took to bring them into the family:
CLASSIC:
Action Jackson -- WEBSITE
MONSTERS
Dracula -- GIFT from an OLD FRIEND
Frankenstein -- WEBSITE
Screaming Werewolf -- FACEBOOK (cost+ship method)
STAR TREK:
Chekov -- WEBSITE
Lt. Sulu -- WEBSITE
Mirror Universe Kirk & Spock (2-pack) -- WEBSITE
Gorn -- WEBSITE
Mr. Spock -- WEBSITE
Capt. Kirk -- WEBSITE
Romulan Commander -- MEGO MUSEUM TRADE!
Mirror Universe Sulu & Uhuhra (2-pack) -- STORE + MAIL via OLD FRIEND
WIZARD of OZ:
Dorothy & Wicked Witch (2-pack) -- STORE (marked way down!)
Cowardly Lion -- GIFT from MUSEUM MEMBER!
Dupes for lazy customs:
Star Trek - Lt. Sulu -- WEBSITE
Action Jackson -- WEBSITE
Married With Children - Al Bundy -- WEBSITE
I plan on grabbing Richie, too - I hear he makes a mean Lt. Riley - but I'm in no rush.
Samantha still lives here, I impulse bought her on one of my few peg-warmer tours, but I think I'll end up donating her to a toy drive of some sort. Great looking doll, though.
Ended up fostering quite a few more, wack-a-mole saves to help people out, and played intentional catch and release with the KISS dolls: childhood associations made it so that I wanted to see them up close; adulthood interest made it so that I inevitably decided to pass them on to real fans.
All told I'm blessed with nearly a third of the toys that Phoenix Mego offered up this year; 61 dolls that none of us ever expected to come into being. Who would have believed it possible?
I'm relieved and thankfully to have been able to catch up, but I can't wait until next year!
