is Mego finished with DC ?

My last order of Mego DC with Dr. Fate and Firestorm (wave 18) shipped from ZLC April 24 , 2024 (2 years ago) . Since that time ZLC has not had any
updates on DC wave 19 or the Supergals wave (no info). Since Mattel has taken back the rights from Mcfarlane toys and other companies Is Mego still going to release these or are they going the way of POTA , Star Trek etc ? It seems like the era of Mego returning is over and only Disney Marvels are left. There are people here on this site that might know but unable to tell us. I really only wan't the DC 50 th anniversary boxed Wonderwoman
Martian Manhunter, Supergirl , Spectre and Hawkman. it would have been nice if the Painted cowl Batman (original )was also added.

I am wondering about this as well. It would be nice to get the last round of DC figures they announced quite a while ago, maybe a few more to fill some gaps that Figures Toy Co did not get to.

I am hopeful that more DC will come but think that the Tariff stuff is still in the way. Disney sets make the figures 25 US a pop compared to the previous 15$ price tag.

That is a hefty price increase.

Figures toy company had the DC rights for 8 "retros and now they don't. Since I recieved delivery of wave 18 ( 2 years ago April ), no DC wave 19's have reached retail and crickets from Mego. Star Trek , POTA, Universal Monsters, TV Series figures have all stopped. Mego would have kept the DC license
for 2 years and produced no new DC Megos . I pre ordered the Atlas comics Phoenix from Walmart 11-9-24 $40.00 and recieved a cancel 3-27-25 no explanation. Jan 2026 I was able to order all the Atlas figures at $19.99 ea on Ebay what the heck is up with that ?

Crickets on DC . It was a fun little ride but Figures did a better job on DC selection. It's good Disney still has Marvel but that's it Mego fans with no
Star Trek, DC comics , Universal Monsters, POTA there is nothing left to pre order for me

Was hoping Mego would cough up the Keaton Batman they showed a couple of years ago. Guess not.

Wonder if there would ever be a chance Mattel would run back a retro cloth line. Would be cool if they did at least the MOTU style figures with cloth goods like they do for WWE.

Someone on Facebook wrote that it was finances that prevented Wave 19 from coming out. After seeing Disney sell out like they did, would it not be easy for Mego to find finances for more DC ? or the sells were not there as expected towards DC ?

Would they need to go on a pre order basis like DC Direct did in the past ?

Finances isn't just about sales. Rising production costs, tariffs, and smaller production runs can impact economy of scale and flip it against you, raising per unit cost, which means margins get much smaller and you have to sell much more to even break even. If the margin changes because production costs changed and economy of scale flipped, it means a production run that was profitable in 2018 would now not break even, even if sales levels were the same. It would require raising prices, but that can cut into sales negating whatever potential gain the price increase would have brought to making the run profitable.

There are layers of the business side we never see, and factors that impact the viability of a product that fans never consider. The market has changed significantly since 2018 when Mego relaunched. The loss of guaranteed sales to big brick and mortar accounts like Target and Walmart have a huge impact on the potential size of production runs, and the fewer units produced, the higher the per unit cost becomes in many cases (that pesky economy of scale in action) and even a shift of a few hundred units can mean the difference between a viable profitable line and one that will lose money and erode the company's viability as a whole.

I'm saddened we haven't seen new DC Megos or really any new Megos that aren't being substantially subsidized by Disney/Marvel in a while, but looking at the landscape of the current marketplace, I'm not surprised.
