My fantastic four figures have arrived

My set of FANTASTIC FOUR figures have arrived. I've been very busy and did not have a chance to open them until today. I have expressed my disappointment and frustration several times here on the site over the cancelation of my order from the Disney Store and the higher cost for me to to obtain a set. But that all kind of seemed to disappear as I was opening them up and releasing them from the confines of their cardboard and plastic enclosures.

As I sat in front of my kitchen window with the sun shining brightly through the glass and onto the figures and their colourful boxes, I was suddenly transported back nearly 35 years ago when I owned the original vintage set on cards. I have to say they are beautiful. There are lots of little details to mention (The Thing has the rock motif extends to his tongue; after initially thinking it was copyright info, I discovered the MEGO "M" logo is etched into the plastic along Mr. Fantastic's "shorts;" the interior of the Human Torch's bodysuit is yellow coloured). As mentioned elsewhere, The Invisible Woman is still on the older body.

Years ago, I sadly had to sell many of my collectibles, including my vintage Fantastic Four set. But I am very happy to now have these new releases. I hope that anyone who wants these are also able to obtain them somehow. I have taken some photos and am attaching them here. Hope you like them.

Happy to see you got your set in !

I was just advised that my 2nd set coming from Tammy (Disney Shopper ) is shipping out tomorrow.

Its real fun when you get them , just dont think about your final price on them since it will sour the experience... lol

You got hit harder with duty compare to me so far on theses sets. Doesnt mean I wont get nailed next time around.

Again, congrats and enjoy, these are a pain to get but fun to have once you do.

They all look Fantastic no pun intended. I do have a question?? How is the articulation on the Thing’s arms?

I remember back in the day, I had a Thing figure, but I remember when you moved his arms around, they would detach from the shoulder blades and the bodysuit would sometimes get caught under the armpit.

The arms wouldn’t break off, but they would kind of pull out from the shoulder blades and you would have to unbutton the top and fit the arm back in, they seemed loose but not broken. I don’t remember the Hulk having that issue and I think it was because he had no shirt.

I was just curious if this new release Thing might have the same issue?

So, this release of The Thing is VERY posable. You can basically rotate the arms all/or very nearly all the way around (though the suit will understandably bunch up after a certain point). I know a lot of die-hard fans (myself included) may find it difficult to say goodbye to the classic elastic-banded bodies, but I have to say that these new bodies stand really well and move super nicely and are very well articulated. In the case of The Thing, it seems to be a huge improvement over the original muscle body design. It's also REALLY heavy and seems to be very sturdily constructed. I love this figure. The whole set is fantastic (no pun intended).

By the way, the MEGO "M" logo appears to be etched into the plastic along the waist of the Human Torch figure as well. I don't know if that's the case of the Spider-Man set or DC figures, as I never bothered to open up the Velcro strips on the backs and check under the clothing. The Thing figure doesn't feature these markings. But I found it humorous, so I had to share.

Thanks for letting me know. Back in the day the elastic banded bodies did indeed work well, but now that I think about it Hulk and Thing because of the shorter muscle bodies did have a bit of an issue with the shoulders and upper leg crotch area. I have seen on ebay, Hulk megos on the card with broken knees and dislocated shoulder/arms

Finding a carded Thing on ebay is rare, unfortunately you couldn’t tell if Thing had the same issues because of the bodysuit, but most likely I’m sure some did.

I’m glad to hear the new bodies stand well and move nicely, very good articulation, it would have been nice if the 50th WGSH were the same instead of having issues with unbendable knees and brittle joints
