This is a great recreation. The color really pops in hand, and I can’t remember if the original Mego was even this vibrant. The head sculpt is great and the suit fits well. The big innovation here is the new body and it is very posable. The joints are a tad loose but not enough to keep him from holding a pose. If you look closely at his “tongue”, it too has a rocky texture! I don’t remember if that is the case on the original, but it is a nice touch. All in all, this is very well done.

I have never owned The Thing to verify whether this was the case with an original. But....I do have the book by Benjamin Holcomb and it does mention the "rocky tongue".
