I finally started to open my Disney Spider-Man Themed Set. For those interested in comparisons, here is the DST Spider-Man and the Disney Mego Spider-Man:
DST vs Mego 50th Spider-Man.jpg
I didn't expect these to be so different, besides the costume.
Mego has a softer head mold. The shape of the head might a little different too. There is a striking difference in the body types as well, beyond just Mego being taller. The DST suit is shiner, although, the picture makes it even shinier looking because of the light reflection. Mego's suit is matte.
It's an interesting contrast in what is supposed to be basically the same figure, or at least, paying homage to the same figure (minus the circle around the spider). The DST head and body remind me more of the Mego Spider-Man I had as a kid, but that was sooooooo long ago, who knows how it compares without having an original Mego side-by-side. It's still a nice figure that I am happy to have, as Spider-Man was one of favorite Megos and maybe my most played with one too.
