It's very difficult for businesses servicing a niche market to diversify, as the niche is often monolithic. For businesses serving a mass market, diversity is the key. In the 70s Mego serviced a mass market. In the 21st century is services a very small niche market, and economy of scale makes diversification nearly impossibly because the niche customer base is often laser focused on a single type of product, and anything outside that loses money. But you are right, once the niche market tires of the product, niche producers often go out of business, but trying to diversify for such niche focused businesses usually speeds up entropy because they lose money faster, it doesn't stave it off. What would stave it off is having products that sell/appeal in the mass market, but there really isn't much of a mass market left in the toy/action figure/cloth good doll field. There's limited retailers and those that do have toys are shrinking the space they have for those goods or shifting them to the niche collectible aisle. The niche customer base turns to online vendors for the products, but there's a lot of product for a small customer base, so lots of competition for the limited dollars available in that niche market, and the smaller producers have to focus on their core offerings because there just isn't enough potential sales to make fringe products profitable so diversification cuts profitability and lowers margins to untenable levels.

Business realities are often very different than what customer wishful thinking believes it is.

Marty should've teamed with NECA, Funko or Super 7 instead of a repro doll part maker. But again...nobody ever accused...
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

I'm going to miss the Universal Monster and other monster figures, but this saves me some money... And I'll be excited once the Marvel figures start showing up.

I feel like Wave 19 is a pretty strong line up. The new Batman and Hawkman both look like home runs to me. In my opinion a white with dark green trunks bodysuit on the Spectre makes him a home run as well. Etrigan is a dark horse for sure but will make a great looking Mego. I feel the same about Martian Manhunter as I do the Spectre. A lime green body suit would look good on him. I think the others look solid as well. Not really a clunker in the bunch.

Yup. The WGSH is what led into the licenses for things like Star Trek and Planet of the Apes. Plus they had Mad Monsters, Robin Hood, King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, the Pirate line, the Western line. Plus this obscure little toy line called Micronauts that one or two people here may remember...

From an (ignored) post I made in a different thread: Actually, what I've noticed with the announcement of Wave 19 is that the original point has- very slowly- gotten lost somewhere along the way. This doesn't feel like the 50th Anniversary of anything, honestly. I understand that licensing the Marvel characters is (likely) cost prohibitive, but there's still a lot of original DC characters missing. All four Teen Titans, all five Super Gals, and yes, even Mxyzptlk. Plus we've got nothing for POTA, almost nothing for Star Trek (technically, absolutely nothing as far as the original line is concerned), and Mad Monsters seems all but forgotten. In their stead, characters are already getting repeated i.e. the wrap-around cape Batman. I suppose you could technically also include the four Big Lots characters as repeats, but since people had such a hard time finding them it's almost like they didn't even exist to begin with.

It is weird to me that they gave up on the monsters. Even the special release of the Headless Horsemen was canceled even though that figure was very popular and a re-release albeit tweaked seemed like a slam dunk. I guess we'll find out what's ahead tonight in the Youtube thing, but I do feel like Mego has shifted a few different ideas in recent months/years and the 8 inch classic Mego stuff is less of a priority these days.

I wonder if selling Marvel Megos direct from Disney is a way to get around the Hasbro Master License deal (if that is still a thing).

Disney said if you want to do Marvle, this is how you have to do it. And Walmart is the one who came to Mego to make the Atlas figures as part of a Walmart promotion, so they get to dictate terms. Mego was not calling the shots in either scenario so other options for those particular figures was never on the table.

I’m sure the Marvel megos will sell fast, better pre-order from Disney now if it’s available? I’ll bet within the first week their released they will be sold out, and the ebay sellers will offer them at triple the prices.

Vicki and Devilina had their own titles, one a comic the other a magazine.
