    EL Dorado [Super Friends]

Am I being too picky here? I bought this figure from Toycade and there's a paint defect on the hair along with what appears to be glue where the hairline is. And some faint black paint runs down the side of his jaw. I have tried to remove with isopropanol and fingernail polish remover. My next step is buying some acetone, which I hope won't hurt the vinyl head. I already went to FTC's website and filled out the form in order to get a head replacement about a week ago, but never heard back. FTC doesn't offer a lot of characters to type within the contact form. I never heard back and am debating about calling them for a head replacement. Am I being picky or is this an easy fix?

Yuck! I don't know how getting a replacement head is going to work for you, but, no, I don't think you are being picky at all.

The glue looks like the same glue they use to attach the glasses on their Clark Kent figure. My Clark Kent also had some of this glue on his face but I was able to remove it with some warm water and by scratching with my fingernail. It was relatively easy to remove and didn't leave any damage.

Not being too picky in my opinion. I think warm water to get the head soft and trying to fingernail it off is a good suggestion from Grüner Pfeil. I would try that before acetone.

I don't think the form works. I've sent messages through the form in the past with no answer. I typically get a pretty quick response via email. I've had a few issues in the past and they've been very accomodating. Try them here: [email protected].

Honestly if you pick up the phone and call them directly with your order number, they'll look it up and take care of you immediately. Their service is excellent.

But Since you don't have an order number from FTC, but it was purchased from Toycade, shouldn't you be contacting ToyCade for the replacement?
Personally, I'd just follow the suggestions and do the cleaning. FTC may want you to send back the WHOLE FIGURE, as you didn't purchase it
                directly from them. Good Luck!

I had Riddler that I had bought on EBay and the arm broke at that metal hook in the shoulder. I asked FTC if i could buy a replacement arm from them and they sent me a whole body. They didn't ask for order numbers. All the sales go through them initially anyway, so it should be no big deal to change that head out. I'd call or email them. They've always been real nice every time I've contacted them and stood by their product.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I sent an email upon that suggestion when it came in. I too would suggest no one use the FTC website contact form since it doesn't seem to route to anyone. Use their email address instead.

As for not contacting Toycade, it was two fold. For one, they aren't in the business of selling FTC retro cloth anymore beyond their old, existing stock or inventory and I didn't think a hot button topic would do me any favors. For all I know there could be bad blood between them. Yes, I'm aware Toycade probably had an extra El Dorado. I've bought the bulk of my FTC DC product from them.

Secondly, as a matter of professionalism, Dr Mego was kind enough to replace my EMCE Star Trek Chekov hand I purchased at Blockbuster many years ago when he had two left hands so I thought it'd make more sense to get the exact part from the supplier rather than trouble a retailer. I'm probably over thinking it, but I'd hate for the retailer to eat the shipping cost for an exchange for an entire new figure. Who knows, maybe the replacement figure would have had tailoring issues or some other broken body part. Not worth the gamble.

So I sent an email. A replacement head is on the way. I'm satisfied. I'm the type of person who given a choice will choose email over a phone call. I over turned all my proof: screenshots from my eBay app showcasing the item number, proof of purchase and delivery and finally the 2 pictures I shared here. There was some back and forth email. The reality is I should have called as Tom suggested. After 2 short responses from my long form writing I didn't feel I was taken seriously and asked if I should call since I provided all the details and received less than 6 word responses. The first response was, "What's wrong with it?" The second was, "Did I clean the head?" After I explained I didn't want to buy acetone to fix an issue I did not cause, nor be responsible for potential damage I think it became clear I'm not trying to defraud anyone and I'm not one of those extraordinary bad customers picking out the smallest of flaws and errors and continuously not being content.

The Superfriends line is awesome and I'm truly looking forward to wave 5 and up. Beside this one minor issue I have mostly adored the figures they've made thus far.

Pleased to report my EL Dorado head replacement came in today. Thanks, FTC!
Isn't it weird how the neck posts differ? I know my Samsung Galaxy 7 camera doesn't capture the flesh tone differences very well, but they're there. The new head is on the left, the old, on the right. The old one has a yellow neck post that is solid at the base whereas the replacement has a fleshy tone and is unsealed with an opening at the bottom/base. I dunno why that is. I might have to glue the seams on the body as the glue there separated when I popped the head off, I suppose if the head of the figure had a squishy neck post no harm would have come to the body. Thankfully the costume will hide that.20170105_223821A.jpg

The new one on the left actually looks bigger? but it's much better looking.
