I would love to see the rest of the cast of Gilligan from FTC .Bif bang pow left a lot of lines with charactors that should have been done ,i think its
possible they were goning to do as many as they can ,and wanted to stretch it out a while ,so they produced less popular charactors like the tucana
singer, boxy and muffet rather then Baltar, boomer and Tigh .they just didnt do as well ,so they cancelled the line .same with Dr who, except the BBC
pulled the plug ,I would have liked more Doctors & more popular charactors then some of their choices like Scarath and sutekh.or in the
twilight zone line ,We got Alicia rather then that cool clown .and so. still better then nothing for all lines.Comment

Like to see them extend the western line that mego started.
Maybe a John Harding or bat masterson, they do have a bowler in stock now.“When you say “It’s hard”, it actually means “I’m not strong enough to fight for it”. Stop saying its hard. Think positive!”Comment

Star Trek TNG died because that Picard was just terrible. I was really excited for that line, but the sculpt and the paint were just atrocious. Borg was made because this line was meant to go much further, and the card art showed Worf and Data were next for wave 2.
Harry Potter suffered the same fate. Sculpts and QC were a huge problem. Second problem was that interest just wasn't there, although would it have been better with improved head sculpts? My wife is a huge HP fan and she refused these based on the head sculpts.
Gilligans Island I don't believe were ever intended to go very deep, although I'd imagine if sales were strong enough we would have at least gotten the Professor and Mary Ann.
I know I'm in the minority here, but I really prefer a more modern sculpt compared to the retro-inspired. I love NECA's work, and I thought the Three Stooges line struck a perfect balance.Comment

I think every wave varies according to the conditions of the license and what one hopes to get from it. Look at the Batman '66 line. When companies first grabbed it like Mattel and FTC, there was no offering for a Batgirl because Yvonne Craig (God rest her soul) would not sign off on any deals to use her likeness. She did eventually agree and actually signed off on the approval of the figures from FTC just shortly before she passed, so that is one variable in play right there. But if you look at something like Dark Shadows that EMCE was a part of, that line suffered from poor sales, so that is why the other characters already in prototype form never went to market. And depending on the state of each deal, these characters are sometimes advertised on the packaging and other times not so much. See the difference between my two examples.
When you look at past Gilligan's Island product, there has seldom been an extension outside of the two lead characters. One noted difference was Exclusive Premiere's release of a figure line back in 1997. That line included the Professor, which I really like, so there are some historical examples where companies tried to go beyond the two leads, but it still didn't work. That being said, I don't believe we will ever see a company like FTC that will try and go as deep as what they do with each license. And remember too in FTC's early days, they really went deep with some television licensing like Happy Days and the Brady Bunch. And having met most of the good folks at FTC, I can rest assure you if there was a way to make say a Thurston Howell III figure, it would be out today. These are passionate hobbyists (and I do mean PASSIONATE). When they jump in, its usually as far in as you can go. So I would best believe there were REAL obstacles for why the rest of these characters didn't come to market. They did a really good job on Gilligan and Skipper so I am glad we got something out of the license.Comment

As far as the Gilligan line goes, if they had made the other 5, I would have been totally in. As good as those two look, on their own they just seem, uh, stranded.
Has Harry Potter been officially shelved, then? It seems like it didn't even get out of the gate.Comment

I'm not a fan of the NECA figure at all, but I do like the improved realism and I think the Harry Potter figure is also a great example of the retro style, with a more modern and realiztic sculpt.Comment

I really like the more modern, realistic head sculpts to go with the improved costuming that we have seen on some figures. My only problem comes when the heads turn out really out of scale. I'd buy whatever Harry Potter figures they made with some duplicates if the heads were in scale. Unfortunately, they just got bigger and bigger going from Harry to Ron to Draco. I can only imagine how Hermione (would have/did) turned out since I remember the initial teaser showing that they were planning on doing her.

After many years of figure collecting, I always wait for a 2nd wave (minimum) before I buy ... no matter how much I love the theme/sculpts, I've just bought too many "incomplete" lines.Comment
