That's a different head. Note the ears and eyes are different. The shape of the head and positioning of the cheeks are completely different. And the eye cut outs on the mask are wider at the base of the nose. I think any generic mask on a head will share similar traits to some degree, but I believe it's safe to say this is an original sculpt and not a recasting. I DO think this is likely a preview of the Atom's head though. I'll be pleased to see him finally make the official shelf of Megos!

I don't know...my Castaway head was a bit squished. It could just be this FTC one is made of firmer plastic. I'd have to hold them up side by side.

I'm going to quit beating this drum, but I think someone at FTC based their new head on the Castaway head. The looks are too similar.

Having said all that, it's exciting to see these available.

They have a new female head with white hair, I will be getting her later on. All they need is one with dark red hair that has a mask, and it would be perfect.

im not sure how one would make generic hero heads with a cowl without it baring resemble to ech other. I don't think castaway invented generic hero heads. I find the accusations kind of silly to be honest. Every move, every product and every announcement seems to come under scrutiny and it's getting old.

I disagree that the accusations are silly. I think it's clear that the FTC head is "inspired" by the Castaway head: The very odd profile of the Castaway head with it's giant, jutting out jaw and receded forehead are reflected in the new head. The pursed lips are also reflected in the FTC version. Why wouldn't FTC straighten out the weird anatomy? They weren't trying to.

Let's also not forget that FTC has reproduced Castaway parts in the past... and I think they continue to make them. Given this evidence, I feel the scutiny is valid.

I ordered the generic white haired female head and the white haired Batgirl head, along with some boots.

I gave them a suggestion for more colors on the Batgirl cowl as well, like red, blue, green etc., as well as better fitting tights for the females.

Just to be clear, I wasn't accusing anyone of anything. I think it's obvious that the FTC head was inspired by the Castaway head. Whether that's right or wrong is kind of moot, as Mego custom pieces were founded on reproducing or mimicking other companies' products without their permission. If FTC had come into possession of the molds that were stolen from Dave and Jason...that would be a bit different, but even then, it may have been a case of receiving material that they didn't know was stolen. As further photos and posts have pointed out, it's not the same head...exactly, so no use of those molds.

And I'm going to bury this part of this thread with this, since I brought it up. Go enjoy the new heads. I'll probably order some at some point.

I just checked over at CTVT, and they added some new male heads to their line of new stuff. Mostly Dukes and Batman heads. Nothing really inspiring though. The sculpts just don't look that good to me. Others may agree or disagree, that is just my opinion.
