    More KISS talk

No offense I don't really like KISS at all. I did grow up in the marketing blitz of the 70's
Am I the only one here that is only interested in the original figures for nostalgia?

I have made similar posts, but now in the age of KRIEGE boxes etc, I would really like to
see those original mego kiss figures made well and in repro boxes.

I managed to get 2 of the 4 the right size, and the small ones. Only thing none of them really
give me the same vibe as well I see the old ones at the toy shows etc. Meanwhile Superman Batman
etc do give me the same vibe.

Can anyone explain? Should I just go buy old ones then i guess?

I think there is someone here who makes reproduction boxes. You should seek them out

I get the same kick from seeing the originals at a show. There's something about the paint on the faces that I love. The reds are kind of a day glow color and I just can't get enough of that!

The new ones are nice and all, but the originals are just cooler somehow.
Expectation is the death of discovery.

I get what you are saying, zeedox. My experience with the new Kiss figures is a bit mixed. While I am more than happy they are back, FTC started the reissue campaign with some less than stellar product (hair was wrong, bodies were horribly produced, graphic design from someone who failed out of design school). I had to spend some time to fix all of the figures to make them look as much like the original Mego product as I could. It was fun (don't get me wrong) but I do not appreciate poor craft and poor product.
Those old boxes were absolutely awesome. I don't get why they changed that at all. Who knows?
The rest of the Kiss lines for me were a bit strange. I am not into the new Kiss (and they have enormous heads), so that takes care of that line. Dressed to Kill is just strange to me. Kiss in suits? Not my thing.
The Alive figures mostly looked good to me. As for sculpts: Great Paul and Peter in particular. Ace is fine. Gene is terrible. Gene looks to be suffering from post mold deformation. Instead of fixing the problem, FTC put out the figure.
I do have high hopes for the Dynasty and Destroyer lines. I would really like to see a throwback style that harnesses the original sprit of the 78 mego dolls. It's a hard thing to do and do well. They have put out some really nice figures. That Batman 66 line looks great to me. Again, just my preference, but I'd like to see a bit more of that old school mego kick in. A bit simplified than detailed. Whatever the case, I am excited to see them. Those costumes are so cool and have so much potential.

The blood spewing variant has a brand new head sculpt. I have to wonder if that is not a preview of the upcoming Dynasty head (but with a different paint job for the makeup in that era).

Maybe it's the female in me, or maybe it's b/c I'm not a KISS fan or maybe a little of both, but I really don't see the appeal in a figure that spits blood! EWWWWWW!

Not my thing but I can't argue with the people who love KISS and want the figure for themselves or their kids. I'm a 48 year old man with a Wonder Woman obsession.

I do wonder how well it cleans up and will you be able to get reload packs. It would be a cool feature on a vampire or zombie figure.

It is a wonder they didn't try to push this out for a Halloween release.

The main feature I'd like to see on the KISS line is to add a flocked chest. They were all pretty furry. The 6 Million Dollar Man figure with the drawn on chest hair is one of my favorites if only for the camp appeal of it.

Wonder Woman ROCKS as long its done tastefully. Im partial to anything related to Wonder Woman Lynda Carter,Alex Toth cartoon related and the 70s and 80s versions. Im not into the new designs with these artists giving her the WRONG costume and putting her in a thong. The liberties that some artists take is down right pornographic and so disrespectful to the characters. You don't see Superman and Batman wearing thongs??? Im looking forward to the new Wonder Woman line by the Farrow. It would be nice IF this leads to Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman since that's what the FANS want and have been wanting since day ONE! Lynda Carter IS and WILL always be Wonder Woman and that's just her fault for being so, um WONDERFUL!!! So, theres nothing wrong with loving Wonder Woman because we are ALL geeky guys who appreciate fun things. Rock on

Yes, it would have been GREAT if FTC would have released the first retro KISS Mego figures in the original boxes however, those images for the Love Gun period are OWNED by master photographer Barry Levine. That would have cost FTC more money and im sure they already paid tons to Gene Simmons for the license. The original boxes are highly sought after and someone on here makes them for a fee, the people on here are VERY talented and crafty that way. It would have been nice to see those boxes for the 8in versions too. Im already salivating at the mouth just thinking about that idea for Dynasty and Destroyer. Yes, the Sonic Boom and Monster figures were a disaster that almost KILLED the line altogether. The heads were massive, the wrong scale altogether and the hair is still a mess. My Gene 12 in Sonic Boom got converted to a Destroyer figure instead. His hair is horrendously bad, cut all wrong by a learning student at Great Clips. You CAN'T reroot the hair on these dolls since it almost impossible to remove the heads, I tried. The Paul Stanley head sculpt is the only series 1 that really disappointed me since it looks NOTHING like the original 70s Mego version, not that the original was Paul!? The paint application on Paul in both the 8 and 12 in version was very poorly executed with paint splats, cocked up pupils and no detail to Paul's facial features. The hair on Paul and Gene isn't even curly? I don't understand why Paul's hair is so jacked up? He and Gene have never had straight hair.

Did anyone else see that for the Blood Spitting Gene, it says you need gloves to touch the blood or it will stain your hands for 2 days. I can't really believe that a company would release a toy knowing that this happens. I get that it is niche, but if you need rubber gloves to handle it, you may be using the wrong materials.

I just saw the demonstration video on Instagram - I have to say....it's pretty ridiculous.

Looks like the blood flows out of holes on the SIDE of the mouth...
                            weird.
...also that glove thing. I'm scratching my head on this one.

"Flows" is being extremely generous. More like drips.

I gotta think the $$ used to develop this fig could have been spent in other areas.
