I'm confused/surprised by the reactions to this figure. In my estimation, it's on par here with figures members have praised/'accepted. For example, Scarecrow: Desaturated costume colors, an off-model sculpt, and a slightly small head (or slightly large hat) didn't eighty-six the figure for most.

Ra's appears close to the Adams source in sculpt and clothing: Dark green suit, muted striped tie. I've never seen Ra's in a lime-green suit, and the red tie was part of the Timmverse. In most art, it's a dark-green suit with a matching or kelly-green cloak. This figure's clothes seem dark or olive-green to me.

I think, as with most FTC stuff, the clothing is decently tailored. What about the well-trimmed and lined cape is tacky? It's not fitted about the shoulders much, but that may be an effect of the seeming padding of the suit--which I agree, if true, looks bad and throws the figure off. FTC has not grasped adding shoulder seams to capes yet to improve drape, but that's a very subtle touch on a small, mass produced figure. The outer fabric (cotton?) plus the lining affects the drape as well. For all I know, FTC may be unwilling to pull the cape around the figure more for fear of obscuring the shelf-display of the suit. Ra's wears a green Dracula cape, it looks like one to me.

The head is huge. We all knew it was going to be huge. Without knowing what was and is in the sculpt/prototype pipeline, it's probably best too assume that original heads will continue To Be Huge. The sculpt is very good IMO.

Honestly , except for what seems to be unfortunate padding, this is a nice figure with a no-surprise out-of-scale head. If the padding can be removed and then the cape repositioned, it's a "go" for me.

Of course, if there's no padding, then I'd say the design is troublesome.

I'd much rather have a Scarecrow with a slightly smaller head (which is on model for how the character has been depicted traditionally) than the macro-encephalic horror of the giant sized noggins. For me, it's all about how (or if) they will display well with my existing WGSH Megos and the FTC giant head is a dealbreaker for me. I'd love to have a nice R'as in my collection, but if the final product looks that bad then I'll just accept that no one has yet made a R'as that is in scale and hope that upcoming figures will eventually get the scale right. If they do, great, I'll buy every one of them; if not, I'll just move on.

I totally understand this viewpoint, especially regarding the ongoing head-size issue, which bothers me, too. On a gut level, I agree--especially since Scarecrow will display with vintage WGSH well. I guess I just didn't think Ra's was a total wash in relation to their other offerings. That said, I didn't buy Bizarro for reasons such as yours. But it seemed to me many members were becoming more tolerant of these scale issues in other threads.

Doubtless, anyone here willing to slightly shrink FTC heads would be very popular.

I would love a shrunken to scale Alfred, Bizarro, Gordon, and R'as!

I think he looks great but honestly, I am learning to live with the large head thing at this point.

I don't feel I should have to "live with" the giant head thing...if they can't get the scale right, then they don't get my money. If we continue to support their mistakes by giving them our money...then they have no reason to correct the problem.

Does he have eyebrows? I thought I remember the sculpt not having any eyebrows, and capturing the Adams look. Adam's Ra's had no eyebrows. It was an odd, quirky thing that made him that more exotic. The Animated series just gave him sunken in eyes with deep shadows.

Learning to live with the head size sounds like a strange version of stockholm syndrome.

I don't think Ra's body is padded, I think the jacket is too tight to fit over the shirt and across the shoulders. The new Jimmy Olsen has the same problem.
Expectation is the death of discovery.

I like Ra's well enough, and he was on my wish list for sure, but I still wish that with these figures they'd try for more of a retro feel. I think the suits should be "drawn on" like Penguin or Joker's rather than more advanced like the '66 series. Scarecrow hits the mark for me more than this guy.

Head sculpt-wise, I am so pleased with the overall design. Here is a mock-up for my plan to customize more facial symmetry (picture #2 of 3; once I have an actual FTC product in-hand). A huge congratulations to The Farrow, because I would argue it is a strong 3D adaption of Neal Adams' lightning in a bottle from Batman 244, page 14. Much patience, a few acetone baths, and a careful paint job are still worth my my own wait for a final result: All I care is I will finally get a Ra's Al Ghul Mego. In the end, it takes so little to make me happy.

I much prefer the actual suits made from separate pieces than the painted on suits. And I love the more updated head sculpts. They look great to me!

I do hope the head is not as exaggerated as the first picture seems to show. The sculpt itself though looks great!
