I'm confused/surprised by the reactions to this figure. In my estimation, it's on par here with figures members have praised/'accepted. For example, Scarecrow: Desaturated costume colors, an off-model sculpt, and a slightly small head (or slightly large hat) didn't eighty-six the figure for most.
Ra's appears close to the Adams source in sculpt and clothing: Dark green suit, muted striped tie. I've never seen Ra's in a lime-green suit, and the red tie was part of the Timmverse. In most art, it's a dark-green suit with a matching or kelly-green cloak. This figure's clothes seem dark or olive-green to me.
I think, as with most FTC stuff, the clothing is decently tailored. What about the well-trimmed and lined cape is tacky? It's not fitted about the shoulders much, but that may be an effect of the seeming padding of the suit--which I agree, if true, looks bad and throws the figure off. FTC has not grasped adding shoulder seams to capes yet to improve drape, but that's a very subtle touch on a small, mass produced figure. The outer fabric (cotton?) plus the lining affects the drape as well. For all I know, FTC may be unwilling to pull the cape around the figure more for fear of obscuring the shelf-display of the suit. Ra's wears a green Dracula cape, it looks like one to me.
The head is huge. We all knew it was going to be huge. Without knowing what was and is in the sculpt/prototype pipeline, it's probably best too assume that original heads will continue To Be Huge. The sculpt is very good IMO.
Honestly , except for what seems to be unfortunate padding, this is a nice figure with a no-surprise out-of-scale head. If the padding can be removed and then the cape repositioned, it's a "go" for me.
Of course, if there's no padding, then I'd say the design is troublesome.
