I'm hoping that Captain Marvel JR is going to be on the 7" body to be in proper scale. Otherwise Captain Marvel will look really small by comparison.

For that matter, they could do the teen girl body for Mary for those who complained that the head on the Kresge Mary looked too old. Heads would explode then!

And hopefully the capes will be white with yellow trim.

wonder why Mary gets away with being called Mary marvel but captain marvel and jr are called Shazam and Shazam jr.i understand the marvel comics thing just wondering how she was excluded.I like the white backer cards.speaking of which,a white suited mart would make sense as a variant.Comment

I'm pleased to see these. I, too, hope Cap Jr. is teen-sized.

And please, please, please--can someone with influence suggest to FTC that Cap Jr.'s cape be depicted and manufactured in its proper red color? I'm begging, truly.WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.Comment

The Trademark fight was over "Captain Marvel" which would include derivatives like Junior. It's a title that could be applied to any character as long as it doesn't swipe traits from a previous Captain Marvel. Mary Marvel is the name of a specific character and not a title. If she was Ms Marvel or some variation, that would have been grabbed by Marvel Comics in the 60's, also.wonder why Mary gets away with being called Mary marvel but captain marvel and jr are called Shazam and Shazam jr.i understand the marvel comics thing just wondering how she was excluded.I like the white backer cards.speaking of which,a white suited mart would make sense as a variant.Comment

When DC Direct made Mary Marvel figures she was simply called Mary. Mattel DCUC called her Mary Batson.

I did not think DC could use the word Marvel at all in the name of a product- comic book, toy, cartoon, TV, movie.

And Hasbro recently made a Marvel Legend Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) figure! I don't like Marvel trademarked Captain Marvel name but Marvel started in 1961 when Captain Marvel and Marvel Family were in limbo 1953-1973! What a waste of great characters! And DC did not use Mary or Jr from 1985-1995 after CRISIS! 10 YEARS!Last edited by ovenmitt; Sep 10, '15, 6:53 AM.Comment

Because Marvel has a Captain Marvel character trademarked, but no one named Mary Marvel. Marvel is trademarked as the company's name, but it doesn't mean the word can never be used by someone else. Now, from what I know, trademarks are nightmarish legal concepts few truly understand (they did change the independent comics character Marvelman to Miracleman a long time ago to avoid problems, as I recall), but given that the name Mary Marvel is part of what DC got from Quality and Marvel itself has never trademarked the name to my knowledge, it's probably safe to call her that. I think the reticence on the part of Mattel was mainly that Mattel's legal department is legendary for paranoia that would make Fox Mulder of X-Files fame cringe. In fairness, though, I've heard trademark/copyright law can be infinitely confusing; Mattel felt it had to call Metamorpho "Rex Mason" when he was released as a "collect and connect" figure in wave 1 of the DC classics line, but then called him Metamorpho shortly thereafter when he was released in the Justice League animated series line. It can be mind boggling.

As far as the release of this wave goes, i'm actually fine with it being pushed to next year. There is so much FTC has announced for this year and only a few months left to put it out, I would be very surprised if a LOT of that gets pushed to next year. And, again, I'm fine with that. I honestly think their sales would be better if the product is spread out rather than a lot coming out in a short time; the latter situation could cause their own product to compete with itself for the customer's dollars.

And one does hope they have listened to the fans on Mary, and give us a new head or use the standard female noggin here; I don't think we need another 40 something Mary... Last edited by scott metzger; Sep 10, '15, 8:37 AM. Last edited by scott metzger; Sep 10, '15, 8:37 AM.Comment

Ugh...Junior's cape is RED!!! Not white!!! I know DC made it white later, but that was when Mary was in all white as well. I know it's in the DC Style Guide incorrectly colored white in a few shots, but it's RED!!! And it looks so much better that way.

FTC...PLEASE release a Captain Marvel Junior (or Shazam Junior, or CM3, or Freddy Freeman) with a RED cape!
