Dorothy and ME belong to other licences/franchises, but I'd like to see new heads with those sculpts.
So does Sue Richards.
The costume is pretty much what I'd have expected from Mego, though a bit baggy. The head choice, though, is terrible. Mary isn't suppose to be forty; they would have been much better off to use the standard female head they have with brown hair. Paint job is the best I've seen on that head, so it can go in the spare head box for future use, but it's definitely coming off and getting replaced as soon as the figure is in my hands.
Very bad choice, especially since that head would have done much better for Poison Ivy.
I have been watching the FB comments and I agree with the person who sees Raquel Welch in the head. It was my first reaction honestly. I have a hard time reconciling how someone can see "street walker" and "crack *****" in a head that brings to mind a woman universally recognized as one of the most beautiful of the twentieth century. There's nothing ****ty about the paint apps at all, and if that head had been available six months ago on the site as a standalone custom piece it would have sold hundreds by now. I can see how it isn't everyone's vision of Mary Marvel, but it's a nice head just the same.
Having the hair styled instead of being a hot mess would go a long way towards making this figure look better. I still think I would not be thrilled with the head used, but it would look better.
Her hair is too red (the style guides are wrong, Mary's comic hair was always straight brown), and the Invisible Girl head makes her look like a chain-smoking cougar. Mary is supposed to be younger (no matter what era you are talking about), and she looks YEARS older than the baby-faced Super Gals.

I don't disagree that the head more depicts a woman as opposed to a teenager. I just don't get where all of the prostitute - and worse - comments are coming from. I think it's a real leap to go from 'too old' to addict, sleaze, etc. I can make all kinds of nice customs with this head. I totally get that it doesn't scream Mary to a lot of folks.
It's the Sue Storm head, right? It's been said elsewhere Sue looks much older than the overly cherubric Super-Gals. I don't get calling her whorish or anything, but she does look older. The hair color is wrong as well. I have seen Mary with that hair color on merchandise of the last several years. I have a T-shirt with her hair in that color...but it's still wrong.
^ I don't think the IG sculpt is sleazy, it's just a more mature/sophisticated look that I find inappropriate for Mary. Deco means a lot, too--look at how different Isis looked from the other Gals.
