exactly, I just ignore the variants. They've always bugged me in any line. I just want one Batman or Joker, not 7. That's what's so frustrating with the WGSH line, they've had the license for a couple years now and all they keep pumping out are the same 7-8 characters over and over. Finally starting to see a trickle of new stuff with the Kresge line.

I don't see why all the hate for the variants. With the exception of the tied up ones, they have all been a key part of the show and storyline. After waiting decades for toys on the series I am enjoying them all. We are not getting much from Hot Toys, Neca or Mattel, FTC is the only place we will see these rare figures. I don't always cheerlead them, I still think their 66 Batgirl is Fugly as all hell, but I am enjoying all the others.Comment

Mattel's batman toy lines into the ground.
The company bets on completists to want every variant figure to keep the line
profitable while the fan gets burned and moves on, causing the line to eventually
die when they start blowing out figures at a 1/3rd of retail in backlash.
I haven't got every new figure from FTC and probably will not in either line '66 or WGSH.
I've always been content with filling my shelves with customs, and that's what I'll continue to do.
Unless buying a figure is an upgrade and better than what I've got, or is more cost effective to buy
the figure than to making my own ( as in the case of Sivana and Alfred) then I'll do it.Customizing 1:9: My Videoblog journey of Customizing!

It's not much different from when we were kids if you really think about it.
I'll use my childhood - Mego experience as an example,...
I had the Batcave play set.
I had the Batmobile.
I had the Batcycle.
I had the Bat-lab.
I had multiple Batman, Robin, Joker, Riddler and Penguin figures.
Both fist fighters and regular versions.
(Once they started to wear out with frayed capes and missing stickers, I'd replace them when I could).
I never owned Catwoman or Batgirl because I didn't like or want them.
(Plus I was afraid of getting made fun of for playing with Girl Dolls)
I owned a Superman but never got around to buying an Aquaman.
I owned a Hulk but no other Marvel figures.
For Star Trek, I had Kirk, Spock & McCoy.
None of the others.
I had a Fonzie but none of the others from the Happy Days line.
I only owned 2 of the KISS 12 inch dolls but would have bought the other 2 if I could have found them and if I could have afforded them with their steep $10.00 price tag in 1978.
It's the same deal today.
We don't HAVE to buy every figure that's thrown at us.
Buy the one's that you like.
If you have extra money and want to buy extra variant figures, go for it.
If you don't want to spend your money on them, don't.
In today's world with the Batman 66 figures from FTC, I own all 3 of the current waves.
However, I only own 1 of the variant figures. (Pink Cowl Batman)Comment

^^ Yup, that last EE wave of exclusives was the start of my loss of interest in this line. The pricing on those figures was just ridiculous. Even more so from a UK consumer POV. EE wanted $100 to ship those figures to the UK. Then it's customs on top of that. One seller has them as a set on eBay (UK) for £175 ($266). Then another (UK) retailer has them for £40 each, so that works out at £200 ($305) for the set.
Thanks, but no thanks.Comment
