I think FTC will eventually end up with the license regardless. They are by all accounts outselling DST Marvel sets by a LOT. If Marvel sees enough dollar signs, they're gonna let somebody else take a crack at the license whether Hasbro likes it or not. Hasbro doesn't own Marvel.

Look if DST failed - than maybe marvel would sell the rights to someone else

But FTC/CTV would still have to shell out a lot of money to get them.
So there is a chance that they would not want to spend that kind of money, also the chance marvel & hasbro shoot anyone else from making them.

There is really such a small time frame on this re-surge
average age of the person buying these is 40-50 years old

Also - most of those people already have a set of original mego figures

If CTV got these rights 10 years down the road - do you think the sales would be as good as the DC is right now? I highly doubt it.

The spike on Marvel mego prices on ebay clearly show the pattern of people buying the FTC DC figures and grabbing Marvel figures to complete what they had as a kid.
Most of them only want what mego made.

I'm clearly a More of a Marvel guy - so I would get them. But I don't see this re-mego trend having these kind of sales in 10 years (IMO) most of us will be 50-60 at that point in time selling off our **** to pay for our kids college, cars and weddings.

We are die-hards but really other than us I doubt many others are buying figures.

Look at us here at the MM - 1/2 dont buy the FTC figures - half dont by the DST figures as we are the market for these toys! Some grab a few from each.
But if even us mego heads are not going all in on both lines in its glorious comeback - what do you think will be happening in ten years from now?

and just my last point - Hasbro has a lot of say in what disney/marvel do with the rights.
Who do you think sells more figures? FTC or Hasbro Marvel legends? Hasbro is in every toystore in America - Toys r us, disney store, wallmart, target, kmart and everywhere else
Ctv/ftv is sold only on line.

I'm friends with CTV/FTC I love what they are doing - but you have to think clearly at what some of you are saying.
As of now they don't have the rights - and it will not be an easy or cheap task to land them somewhere down the line.

They have great sales in DC - and they can make just about every figure they want in the format they want to sell it at. They have more than enough figures to make than to worry about the marvel figures they can't make. I just don't see them getting the rights anytime soon - if ever.

I see pros and cons in both lines - all I can say is buy what you like pass on what you dont - but I don't see these lines around in ten years pushing the sales they are pushing now.
I hope I'm wrong - cause I would be 1 of the few still married to this scale - But I just can't see it. You start getting down to the secondary and 3rd tier characters and very few will be all in for those.

Well, I can say this...I am enjoying the ride so far with the DC figures. I just want to see my favorite three get made. Firestorm, Swamp Thing, and Deadman.

How do you think FTC could pull off a Swamp Thing figure?

Deadman is easy enough - firestorm a pinch harder to pull off but think they will get those both done for sure.
IMO I just don't see swamp thing anytime soon - maybe wayyyy down the line. So many other characters to make in DC before him DeadShot, Huntress, canary, Justice society figures etc..

As far as pulling him off - I think they would have to make a whole new body for him - or add plastic overlay parts of weeds and such to lay over his suit hands and feet. maybe along the lines like the Neptuian style but with weeds as boots and gloves etc. I'm not sure they are ready to pull that one off just yet - also not sure if he is high on their list of figures to make.

I think he would look really good with just a screen printed bodysuit and a headsculpt with the enlarged neck area.
I may have to design a prototype.

10 days until SDCC Preview Night Wed. June 8. I hope we hear news at SDCC of another company besides Diamond or Sideshow announcing some scale of AFFORDABLE cloth-costumed Marvel figures!

And no not Mezco. I was disappointed by its 6" DKR Batman for $55!

Diamond has SDCC preview on Facebook today and Thor set is shown but no other set? If not this line is doomed! I will not wait until 2016 for 5th set!

He is part of the regular DCU license now (there was a problem in past years as he was considered Vertigo, but he has officially been re-integrated into the DCU proper, thus the DC Universe Swampy figure at SDCC a few years back).

Back to Marvel, I don't see the current line going on much longer, sadly. Too much bad press, to little product coming out at too high a price. And I don't see it coming to FTC if Diamond drops it because of all the restrictions apparently in place.

Too bad; if FTC already had the license, we'd probably have an X-Men line started by now, or at least in the works, rather than just a lone Wolvie...

Yeah, FTC would have made all original Mego Marvel figures by now, a 40th anniversary 1975 All New X-Men wave, 1990s X-Men cartoon, Spider-man line all the villains, Avengers line, Fantastic 4, wait I'm sorry *sigh* I have something in my eye.

btw Diamond on Facebook yesterday said maybe another Mego set besides Thor will be at SDCC next week and PLENTY of other sets are in works. For when 2016? Thor is not due until end of 2015. Toycade said it cannot sell Cap and Wolverine sets for $65! Disney has to notice this and renegotiate license!

^Diamond could have a dozen sets "in the works".

It won't matter one bit if retailers don't order them because they're stuck with what's already come out.

I thought Thor would be out this summer. Diamond would have to see how Thor would sell before greenlighting more sets. A nice set like Cap is not selling and he has been in 4 Marvel movies with a 5th on the way! And Wolverine isn't selling either! Hugh Jackman has been in 6 X-Men movies?! Where is IRON MAN who started Marvel Movie Universe?! Fantastic 4 has movie coming out but I doubt we'll see a single Mego from that team! And there's the deal with Disney and Fox over X-Men and Fantastic 4 merchandise.

At Target I see its exclusive Hasbro Marvel Titan 12" Spider-Man 4-pack for $35 and its not selling! Neither are singles on sale for $8 (Wal-Mart, too!)

I don't think Disney or anyone else cares how the figures sell - they are getting paid to lease the rights out. So while I'm sure they want the lines to sell well - not sure how much they really care or not. Either way they get paid
