I'm pretty sure you can get away with repro-ing the Mego Thor hammer because it is different in shape to what would be considered Marvel's Thor hammer.

They are pretty much generic and made by a company that has been out of business for 30 years. If anyone had a problem with it, it would be Marvel, who would tell FTC to cease and desist...but since they aren't calling them "Iron Man boots" theres not much they can do. Nobody owns the copyright to "ribbed boots". The "Thor boots" might be a different situation since they are actually calling them "Thor boots", however all they would need to do is call them something else, "Viking boots" for example, and there's no copyright problem.

Same reason Doc Mego can sell a blue scalloped cape all day long and it's not a problem until he calls it a "Batman cape".

Bingo. As long as it's not distinctive to the character and not marketed as such, there shouldn't be an issue.

I had not thought of that, but you are right! And that would actually look pretty cool if they are cast or painted silver!

And it would definitely be something that Mego would have done.

I remember when Doc Mego used to sell the RC Batman cowl. Now it's a red cowl with ears that you can specify the color you want

...so many easy, small things they could do for customizing purposes, based on what they're already producing...and they're never get to it. I could toss out one simple idea that requires minimal effort, no huge retooling or casting. It's totally untapped and everyone here would buy between one to four pieces. And then you could multiply it by a factor of a dozen. smdh
