    Dark Knight Joker

I wasn't sure if I wanted one of these or not. I didn't really want to compete with the people who wanted one because of the morbid factor. But it is a pretty nice figure. I noticed that there are at least 3 different versions of the toy line. One has more of a mass-market look to it and less accurate sculpt. There's a smaller version, using the same basic sculpts. And then there's a much nicer line, that is closer in quality to the DC Superheroes line. The packaging is different, and each figure comes with an oversized accessory, such as a mask or crime scene evidence. At Toys'R'Us today, I found one of the nice ones and decided to go ahead and get it. In case anyone's looking for one, there's also a TRU exclusive that has the same figure in a two-pack with Batman. I knew that they had made a figure of a Joker goon, and was really hoping that it would be wearing the same mask that the Joker did at the beginning of the movie. Unfortunately it's not. Does anyone know if they're making a second wave of these, maybe with more goons and a Two-Face figure?

There was a Two Face figure at (I think) NY Toyfare in (again, I think) 1/12 scale. As for when we'll see it is anyone's guess.
Of all the souls I have encountered his was the most...human.

I saw this about 15 times the day it came out. Other than a few of the 12 inch figures I had saw,.. I have no interest to personally collect any Batman Movie Toys. I think they are Horrible. It suck too,.. cuz if I woulda bought all 15 of them,.. I'd be rich. ... Well not really,.. Buit the turn around on those are unbelievable.

I was looking for pics, and I didn't think the figure itself was any different. It looks like there are several different oversized mask pack-ins, including the one that turns out to be the Joker.

The Movie Masters Joker craze is the combination of a misunderstanding and alot of miscommunication. I'll give you the scoop - Shortly after wave one was released back in May, Mattel identified a production problem and decided to pull the product from shelves. This was not readily known at the time, so when stores pulled them, the average collector perceived the disappearance as DEMAND and thought they were all being bought up because of Heath Ledger and his death. When the recall was lifted stores were allowed to start restocking the SAME item they had pulled (the problem had to do with packaging, not lead paint or anything like that).

What happened next was that some stores "got the memo" and followed the instructions to restock while others kept the product in the back. By this time collectors had heard about the recall and subsequent orders to restock but, once more, because it was hit and miss as to who was stocking and who was not, the perception was elevated that DEMAND was pulling these figures off the pegs. So NOW Mattel has gotten word about this and is mass producing a ton of these Jokers to meet demand.

By this fall anyone who had not found one of these Jokers will be able to stroll into their local Walmart or Target and get one. Right now the scalpers (and paid off stock boys) own the current production, but as time goes by demand will soften as stock volumes are elevated and the figures will begin to appear at regular rates on peg boards. By November these Jokers currently going for $50 and $60 dollars will be in discount bins. Oh and the next wave of new characters are due out in October which includes Two-Face. Hopefully there will be no production issues to personally enrich these scalpers who, in truth, are selling a subpar figure that is truly overpriced at $11.00 to $13.00 if you can get one at retail. Don't worry though...These figures are coming and in a volume scalpers will not be able to buy up. By the time Fall gets here the people who spent over $100 for one of these figures are going to be feeling pretty stupid.

I bought mine at retail, but thanks for that info. That means I'll be able to get a few more cheaply to customize. I want one with the nurse's uniform and one in the thug disguise. The reason that I mention the morbid factor is that I know people who specifically wanted one because it's a figure of a dead actor. And there were a few eBay vultures who used that in their item descriptions.
