Agreed, but bear in mind he was hunched playing apes and as Bookworm he had the reading-hat and IIRC dress-boots.

Now I want to re-watch those episodes, they're great IMO. I'm kind of obsessed with Batman'66 costuming.

Yes, true about the ape thing. And I love his Batman episode too. Aside from the broadly comedic ending, Roddy was pretty menacing in that episode. Seemed like a genuine psycho lol. I'm glad the character got some love in the animated movies, and in figures. I now have 3 versions of the character from McFarlane, Figures Toy Company, and Funko (in 3.75" size).

I always thought the 66 tv series, should have brought back Bookworm for an episode in season 3, brainy Librarian Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl would have made a nice antagonist. Although I suppose at that time, Roddy McDowall was already committed to his POTA Cornelius role, and finding another actor to step in as Bookworm probably wouldn’t have worked.
