    Mattel, MOTU--and Barbie!?

You read it right, and I want it.

It's a MOTU renaissance right now, and I've longed for 1/6 mass-market MOTU for decades.

At first I thought, "Matty, use that nice Max Steele body for some 12" MOTU." Could have be great during the 2002 line.

But now, Mattel has these terrific Barbie and Ken "made to move" bodies that would be ideal for MOTU. Specifically, the "superhero" body used for the Henry Cavill Superman would be perfect for MOTO male characters.

Imagine He-Man, Skeletor, Teela, Evil-Lyn, She-Ra, and Tri-Klops or Mer-Man in this format. I think it could be an awesome Barbie Silver Label release.

I know, right? Consider all of Mattel's rooting and costuming skills skills brought to bear on such an effort. They could be wonderful!

Mattel did show protos for a 12 inch line several years ago. The body tooling is already there. They would have been additions to the already released 12 inch She-Ra they did for comic con. The protos shown were He-Man, Teela, Sorceress, Glimmer, Catra, Evil-Lyn and Netossa. They looked great. I will hunt down some pics.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Mattel's Queen Hippolyta from the Wonder Woman movie line gives me the She-Ra vibe.

Those PowerCon prototypes are much like what I'd like. They look great, though I was thinking of rooted hair for He-Man.

Thanks as always for your MOTU knowledge, Werewolf.

I agree! Just add a red cloak and it could make a nice custom. Good headdress, too.

I forgot to mention the He-Man on display was supposed to come with two heads. One with rooted hair and one with plastic. They ran out of time to get the rooted hair done for the convention. The spikey molded hair on display is supposed to represent the rooted hair head.

From what I can tell Mattel just decided not to do them. The Same with the giant retros they showed. The only 12 inch dolls to get released were the two exclusive She-Ras.

Skip to 3:38 for MOTU giant retro.

Hmm, I wouldn't have bought those two-ups, but I would like an Origins Wun-Dar.

I'd be surprised if they don't make one.
