Mattel Toys Being Pulled From Shelves?!?!

Hi all

I just saw this on toy news international

So Mattel is pulling there products from stores, but its not a recall. Sounds very strange to me.

and here I just got most of the speed racer cars except one, I hope I can find the last one, and that the ones that I do got have aren't defective or toxic. Isn't this the second time something like this happened to mattel this year?

I saw them packing up the huge Speed Racer set up the other day at TRU....I assumed they were just making room to set up for the Dark Knight stuff!?

I have been reading about this on some of the other forums, apparantly there is nothing wrong with them they don't meet matells standards, never quiet realised thay had any but seriously, this seems odd to me, and a lot of what they are pulling seems to be batman and kung fu panda, wonder if sales are down and they think this will generate interest in the lines.

I think it's bad though for mattel to have stuff aimed at mainly the kid market pulled again after the cars and polly pocket debarkle

I dropped by the local TRU again today...Turns out they were just making room for Dark Knight stuff. according to the manager, Mattel agreed to take back tons of unsold Speed Racer stuff to free up room for the Dark Knight toys. Keep your eyes peeled at the discount chains for tons of Speed Racer paraphenalia soon!

No it was Snake Oiler's car, which I found Friday at a walmart. I got my red mach 4 in a four pack with the shooting star, mach 5, and mach 6.
