All I can find is that it is from Captain Action Enterprises and the names I see associated are Joe Ahearn and Ed Catto. If what I am reading is correct, Ahearn was behind the Playing Mantis version and Catto was a Round 2 guy.
Their Facebook page is showing a Rocketeer figure and package art that shows "Madman", "The Black Terror", "Daredevil" (the Golden Age one, not Marvel Comics), and a "Mystery Hero" that in silhouette looks an awful lot like "The Spirit". (In fact, it looks a lot like my avatar!)
They've confirmed so far that these will be available online with some retailers interested, but I think we would assume online. Price point has not been confirmed, but I would imagine they will be much higher than the Round 2 costume sets.
A couple of years back, they did a series of cards that included Daredevil, Madman, and The Black Terror. That series also had Amazing Man, Silver Streak and Stardust. All Public Domain characters.
There were also some 4.5" figures around the same time that they were promoting or somehow associated with that included Green Turtle and "Champion of Mars". Again, Public Domain characters.
Reading the fine print on their poster, they list copyright info for Captain Action, The Rocketeer (Dave Stevens Estate), Madman (Mike Allred), Mars Attacks! (Topps). So they have obviously gotten license for those. The last part says "All other characters are public domain" and that's obviously for The Black Terror and Daredevil. So that makes me curious if their "Mystery Hero" is going to be Public Domain like Amazing Man, Silver Streak or Stardust (pointing back to the card series they did in 2016) or if they have another licensed character coming that they can't reveal yet for whatever reason.
To confirm, Round 2 is not involved in this new product, per CAE. The Round 2 C/A head was photoshopped on that above picture used on that Space C/A but that's not what will be used in production pieces.
Scrolling through their Facebook page there is a post from July 17th, by them, pointing to a Will Eisner exhibit in Kansas City and that really has me leaning toward thinking they do have plans for The Spirit.
These look really nice. Too bad they didn't look this nice when doing the Marvel figures. Would be cool if this new company could get the Marvel and/or DC licenses. Love that new Capt. Action head!
