Disagree that the Star Trek line should be placed in the merits of Funko pile, that one was a total fumble but they made some really nice stuff, like for me, the JAWS set or the Uni Monsters were great, I won't deny that.

Personally, I think the Super 7 apes are better than anything Funko did, both packaging design and figure quality.

I also prefer Super 7's licensing choices but I understand, different strokes for different folks. I have no use for Rocky or baseball players though.

    Unpopular Opinion:

Super7's sculpts are not better than when Funko had the ReAction license.

Those Rocky Figures look no more detailed or vintage than the Funko Big Trouble In Little China or even Star Trek figures. Funko's E.T. set is a masterpiece. Super7's ALIEN wave 2 has figures like Brett and Lambert that look just as "soft" as any Funko sculpt.

I love that Super7 will do figures that wouldn't exist without them, but I miss the days of finding figures in the store for $10 or on sale for less. Funko had some stinkers, sure. But I think Super7 has a reputation for quality that may be exaggerated, at least in the ReAction line. Their card art is fantastic, though.

I think that if Funko had been given the time to shake out the kinks, they'd have found their way, as evidenced by their later figures like Dark Crystal and E.T. I know it's easy to hate on the big toyseller, but I miss those days of going to Barnes and Noble and seeing them on sale.

I wonder if they were worried about some kind of religious backlash, so they went with the benign name of "Minotaur" instead? Then again, this isn't the 1980's, is the heavy metal "satanic scare" still a thing these days?

I remember hearing that the PMRC once sent Slayer a letter requesting that they not release any more records. Some of the stuff out there these days would have made Tipper Gore's head explode, Slayer is absolutely quaint in comparison.

With the Worst AND Planet of the Apes AND Shogun all dropping within a month of each other... I'm a little intimidated. I haven't picked up any Shogun yet. I can't get that spendy on plastic men all at once.

I'll probably get one and put it next to my Eddie figures.

Cult of Slayer will eat these shirts and figures up; that audience is strong. It they ever lock up the classic, unholy trinity of Misfits/Samhain/Danzig… toy history!

Ed is spot on as S7 comes from and caters to the art toy world [global phenomenon]… the source reference, homage, criticism or parody is a design vehicle not an intended [sic] extension of a lineage or vintage collector realm.

Now c'mon, am I the ONLY one excited for Apes Series 2?!?… first US release of Ape-O-nauts, and we get the Lawgiver, Mutants and more Gorillas too!. In my [tiny and perhaps demented] world, this is genius!
