Fight broke out over Funko Toy Give-away at Toy Tokyo NYCC booth

article doesn't mention what the give-away toy was.

By Adi Tantimedh When I arrived at the con floor around two o’ clock on Thursday, I came across a very long line in the 400 aisle full of very disgrunted

Well since they said it was a single figure,we can rule out the Golden Girls. We know how many people would start a fight for a free Bea Arthur figure.

NYCC is an absolute MESS. I had to wait on line for will call tickets. You know how long the line was...6 city blocks. The line went down 34th to 12th avenue and then from 12th and 34th it went to 12th and 40th and then worked it's way back up to 11th and 40th. A will call line shouldn't be that long. If they would have kept mailing tickets for the last 3 weeks before the show that line wouldn't have had to have been that long. It's pathetic. And the people that handle the site should be fired. You can't be updating on the day before the show with guests like Jose Luis Garcia Lopez, Frank Miller, J. Scott Campbell, Jerry Ordway and many others. They know exactly the type of collectors they are dealing with and they should know it takes time to get books and stuff out of the collections to get signed. One other thing...if someone brings their little tote on wheels with 4 boxes of comics...you should show them the door. You want to reduce lines so that EVERYONE gets a chance to get stuff signed that's what you should do. Also, get CGC to have a rep at every table in artist alley or every other table. I just about lost my mind when you're the next person to get a signature and I have to wait because the schmuck in front of me needs to get the book signed and slabbed and has to wait for a rep. That F'N ticks me off to no end.

I'd engage in a "two seven year olds playing karate in their aunt's basement" level fight for one of those!

i went to NYCC once and would never go again. it was an absolute madhouse. they oversell tickets for the space available and it gets so crowded you are like sardines in a can, barely able to move. talk about fire hazard

That's why I stay home from these overrated Comic Cons and let the nerds do the work taking photos of anything new that I may be interested in. I've been to Wizard Comic Cons and its basically the same everytime. It's just one big commerce of over priced collectibles.

You should attend DragonCon one year. It's fantastic. The vendors are in a separate building, and the panels range the gamut from costuming, to kilt making, to writing, to drawing, to sword fighting, to building armor, the creating prosthetic makeup, etc.

Is it crowded? Yeah, it is. BUT, there are few to no fights over stuff, the security teams are always on top of things, and the prices are actually fair if you know the right booth to go to.

If you go, wear comfortable walking shoes, carry water, and DON'T buy food from the vendors! THEYA are really overpriced! Go to the CVS, buy a few six packs of soda, bring along a small cooler filled with ice, and keep yourself hydrated.

A good reporter answers all of the questions: who, what, when, where, why, and how. If the person making this report did not identify the cause of the altercation, i.e. the item being given away, then he is a failure as a reporter...as are most so called "reporters" on the internet, unfortunately.

I don't think it was a "giveaway" figure. I think the line was basically for you being able to purchase the exclusive figure to the show. That's the sad part of the whole story.

Reading these types of things always makes me feel embarrassed for ever having gone to a comic con or science fiction convention. You just know the local news would love to get a clip of two fat guys dressed as Thor and Deadpool rolling around the floor screaming, punching and crying as they both clutched to the same Funco glow-in-the-dark zombified Green Arrow or some other such crap.

And the Javitz Center in NYC is just an awful convention center for anything so there's no upside to trying to go there.

Still don't know what the figure was.

I can see it being the funko Dark Crystal reaction Garthim/kira set since funko only made 500 for the show plus people are selling it for $200 on ebay.....I am sure half of those people who got into the fight were scalpers
