I think its the bad design on the cloth costume that is making him look no necked. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

I'm in for this Cap! 11" cloth costumed for only $35! I hope this is an ongoing line. This is better than $80 DST Retro Marvel sets and $80 Mezco One:12 Marvel figures and especially $250 Sideshow 1/6 Marvel figures! I hope Disney can do X-Men despite Fox.Comment

Why 11"? License, I guess, but he's not going to be in scale with anything.Expectation is the death of discovery.Comment

I meant this is a better deal in that it's only $35 for what seems good enough quality for that price. I thought this was all plastic at 1st like new 12" Marvel Legends. Since Mego I've always preferred cloth costumed figures. Disney could get out more characters a year in this line than DST retro sets which may be only 3 sets in 2016.Comment

Also, I thought "Mezco One:12 Is Modern Mego"?
Kind of an extreme about face, considering none of the Mezco comic-based figures are even in-hand yet, other than the Dark Knight series. Myself, I'd much rather spend a bit more for a quality figure than throw away any amount on something like that $35 "Ultimate" POS. YMMM, though.Comment

I have the Mezco One:12 DKR Batman- the PX blue costume and the regular black costume. I just received One:12 Mr Spock last Saturday and love all of them. I plan to get One:12 Captain Kirk and Shazam and have pre-ordered One:12 Captain America, Daredevil, Flash, Green Arrow, and Punisher and will Superman next month. I have collected all FTC DC and Batman TV except all except all exclusives Super Friends being latest and I will order Batman 4, Shazam 1, and New Teen Titans 1 sets by end of July.
I said Mezco is Modern Mego because they are making detailed cloth costumed figures of DC, Marvel, Star Trek, etc like Mego did. I know they are 6.5" not 8" and more expensive but I collect them like FTC. I'm glad Mezco got Marvel because DST may only offer 3 Retro Marvel sets in 2016. I will buy this $35 11" Captain America too. The more Mego like figures the merrier.
I also think Hasbro new 12" Marvel Legends for $50 each are nice and plan to collect them. No way I'd ever buy $250 Sideshow 12" DC and Marvel.
There's competition between these companies especially over Marvel. That doesn't mean I have to buy only one company's Marvel figures. We just found out about this Disney Cap figure, the Marvel Ultimate Series could be the best deal on Marvel figures and the best Marvel line if it continues.
Disney owns Marvel, Hasbro Master Marvel toy license ends in 2020. Disney may start making Marvel figures itself after that. The Cap figure may be an early sign of that. And Disney has let other companies besides Hasbro make Marvel figures like I said DST, Sideshow, NECA, and Mezco. I'm happy with all the Marvel and DC figures I can Get!
BTW I'm expecting the new Marvel Legends X-Men wave of 8 figures 9 including Juggernaut! Cannot wait!Last edited by ovenmitt; Jul 12, '16, 2:42 PM.Comment

Well, I certainly agree about the Sideshow 12" lines; I sold off the ones I had and dropped plans to buy any more. The quality just wasn't there for the price, and I disagreed with many of the aesthetic choices they made regarding "interpretation" of classic characters. That Green Lantern figure was an abomination, the DC Direct 13" figure from years ago was much nicer.
To me, those 13" DCD figures are the gold standard of cloth-costumed superhero figures. They have their faults (the cut joints, bendy hands, limited wrist articulation) but the authenticity of the comic book-style kicks the crap out of any of the Sideshow figures.Comment

Yeah, I collected almost al the 13" DC Direct figures, they were as low as $60 at 1st! I hated to see the line end. Sideshow really dropped the ball with 12" DC and Marvel figures over $200 each and the few SS has made. Maybe DC Collectibles will get back into cloth costumed figures!Comment

to be fair though, if it's produced by Disney for their Disney stores, at such an affordable price point as $35, it's likely not primarily aimed for an adult collector like the Mezco or Hot Toys or whatever. I'd say it's a nice entry level "mego" for kids to actually open up from the package and play with, without caring whether it's a perfectly detailed replica of Chris Evans, down to the pores on his skin.
and given how thin and specific a license can be carved out these days, I'm sure the size is pretty specific to whichever format was available that Hasbro or any other company like Hot Toys or Mezco or DST/EMCE hadn't snapped up.Comment
