Speed Racer

During my misadventures at a couple of TRU's today (see the Indy post) I noticed the sheer, overwhelming amount of Speed Racer stuff on the racks. I do like the look of the 3 3/4" line, but now I see there is a smaller line and a 6" line....not to discount the three or four different licensees for die cast cars--Mattel, Johnny Lightning and Jada!! WAYYYYY too much stuff in my humble opinion.
Personally, I dont see this film being that popular....certainly not enough to move all this product, and I'm sure by September this stuff will be on clearance.
What do you folks think?

Exactly. Walmart does the same over ordering thing on every movie that comes out. We have several display shippers as well as a full aisle and several endcaps worth of Speed racer. Yeah there will be alot on clearence in September.

Clearance is fine with me due to my ever shrinking toy budget!

At Rotten Tomatoes, Speed Racer is only getting a 35% fresh rating from movie critics (see link below). Given the uninspired trailers I doubt there are many surprised by this result or the lack of interest in product. The film just looks overly conceptualized from the cartoon I grew up with in the 60's and I think most would agree - trading in the Mach 5 for a "Mach 6" was pure suicide to this project. That 's like making a Duke's of Hazzard film and replacing the General Lee with a different Dodge Charger...doesn't work!
