Expensive toys and how to get 'em

I've been dabbling in the world of high end figures in the hundreds, such as the COO models Teutonic Knight and the ACI Templar.
Also very interested in the Redman Eastwood stuff and the upcoming Trek 1/6 figures.
The main problem is the shipping and exchange rates from the U.S. are killing me.
Any fellow Canucks found a solution to this?

I have someone muling in toys from Japan, and the exchange rate with the Yen is quite reasonable, so a great deal of my play money goes the the Pacific Rim rather than south of the border these days.

This weekend's Mego Meet being an exception... I cringe at the idea of going to the bank tomorrow to buy USD.
My store in the MEGO MALL!

BUY THE CAPTAIN CANUCK ACTION FIGURE HERE!

Yeah, I am suffering the same fate. I want to ask a co-worker about having stuff shipped to her place in the US to get free shipping to offset but I feel guilty asking so I wont. I have put off buying a lot of new Mego because of the exchange.

I posted another thread about some Japanese stuff I was looking at buying. Have you seen these before?

I have assembled ACI Toys figures (the gladiators) slowly, piece by piece, over several years time. Chinese sellers offer them in parts, and I've sometimes scored pieces for 2 bucks, shipping included, when nobody was bidding.
The Knights are awesome, would love to have them.

I have been looking at the parted out figures on eBay, particularly the knights. Is this the best source for these parts?
I don't know if I have the determination and patience to assemble over an extended time like that, but I'm looking at the parts to spruce up, say, an Ignite figure with a better surcoat or helmet or whatever. Not that Ignite stuff isn't nice, but some parts could be better. Actually, Ignite stuff is probably more accurate in some ways than the current crop of knights, but not as pretty.
