Hot Toys Back to the Future DeLorean

I love toys, I love cars, I love Back to the Future...

Certainly a lot of money, but holy smokes, how cool would this be in your glass display cabinet or desk?

Just get Marty McFly, and you are set...

All this, and the metal paint MAY flake off at any moment, with no chance of a refund...

I love what Hot Toys does, but I don't think I can support them, especially on a high-ticket item like this, after they refuse to offer simple replacement parts like flaking Captain America shields.

Not that I could afford this anyway!

Up there with the unproduced Palisades Sesame Street action figures as most irking me because I'll probably end up never owning it/them.

        Incredible, incredible toy.

Wow, paint flakes off their products?

I only own two Hot Toys, a Chris Reeve Supes and an Aliens private Vasquez marine...they both look well made...no flaking off of Vasquez chest plate or gun as of yet...

WOW. That's a beast and a price tag to match. Who knows what it will sell for once it hits the UK? Still something that I'd like to own though. Massive BTTF fan here.

I can only speak to the Hot Toys Captain America shields, but yes, those have been known to have their paint flake right off...just like mine. Took a Swiffer duster to it, and the paint just lifted off in pieces not unlike fish food. I nearly cried.

And I got a contact email for someone at Hot Toys. Told them my problem and asked if they would send me a replacement. The person asked me how I got this contact info. That was their only response.

But I didn't mean to take a dump in this thread. That Delorean is a beauty. I'm hopeful Hot Toys has at least rectified any quality control problems they may have had in the past.

Man, I love to have it too...it hits all the right spots, BTTF fan, car enthusiast, etc...and that thing is huge and so detailed...that would definitely be one of the center pieces of my collection...it would have a huge WOW factor...as much as my 1/72 scale Saturn V Apollo 11 rocket and 1/72 Columbia Space Shuttle/booster rocket/fuel tank model...but even those, did not come with that Hot Toys price tag.

Still tempted at going at it with their payment plan...but $230 a month is not chump change either....and if I get the car...I'd definitely would have to get the Marty figure as well...we are talking a cool grand by then...

Plus I want that new Gal Gadot Wonder Woman, Deadpool, Both Batmans (armored one is one of them), and the Cavill Supes.

There will have to be some sacrifices...can't buy them all...

                    Chris,

Can't you buy a replacement stand alone CA shield on eBay? Knock offs/repo as well?

This guy solved the problem...he applied clear coats on them...

Yeah, you can, and they aren't that high. But it just really REALLY irked me that a company that makes all of its money off discerning collectors would steadfastly refuse to address a quality control problem.

I mean, no offense, but Figures Toy Company isn't known for their quality control, and they have a decent track record of making things right. And there stuff is $30 a pop at most.

I have major OCD on such matters...if I owned a Cap...and the shield's paint flakes off...first I'd be mad as hell...then I'd cry, lol. Next...damn the extra expense...I'd have to get that extra new shield no matter what...then apply a clear coat on it...otherwise, I'd die...lol...
