    Boy Story action dolls (Kickstarter)

    Hi Guys,

This may or may not interest you, but I think it's pretty cool, and any of you dads w/ young boys or grandsons might like this.

Boy Story Action dolls is a cool concept dreamed up by 2 women who were tired of a doll market monopolized by girls. Their 18 inch action boy dolls are a great combination of dolls and action figures. Huggable like an American Girl doll, but poseable like an action figure. They have molded hair and have books to go w/ each character. If their Kickstarter is successful, these dolls will probably be out by Christmas. I'm a backer and my pledge is an early bird doll. Even if you don't want to back this project, I'd still like to know what you guys think.

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

I think these are pretty neat--wasn't My Buddy a hit a couple of decades ago?

Kickstarter is a good niche for these, and parents looking for something different, but I'm sure there'll be the inevitable comparisons to Chucky.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

Actually I would anticipate more comparisons to Woody from TOY Story, as the white doll looks kinda like him.

It's a cool idea. But the prototypes need a little work, in my opinion. They remind me a bit of ventriloquist dummies. They're a little creepy.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

My daughter - college now - had American Girl dolls. I think they'll be great for a boy who is looking for a male doll in this size, or for a girl who's looking for a pal for her American Girl doll. I don't get a creepy vibe. I was expecting Sunshine Family or Hugo, these don't really bother me.

And thanks Scott for putting the My Buddy jingle in my head. It's almost as bad as Monchhichi.

Way up in the trees live the Monchhichis. Monchhichi! Monchhichi!

Lol, anyhoo, I do think the dolls are a cool idea. It's probably just the molded hair and the kinda starey eyes giving me the ventriloquist vibe.

Yeah, I have a feeling girls would want these too.

My own daughter asked for Superman and Batman Barbie dolls this year for her birthday, when i asked about Wonder Woman she said "I have enough girls".

My daughter customized one of those generic My Twinn dolls into a boy, because she couldn't find any boy dolls to go along with her American Girl and similar females.

Almost as bad as "monchichi" --but not quite.

I don't get a creepy vibe, either--I do see the Woody resemblance, though.

Do the American Girls have soft bodies and vinyl limbs, too?

Bring back a larger scale GiJoe and make these boys grow up a little more manly . Remember boys don't play with dolls they play with action figures.

Action Figure was a buzzword created to remove the stigma from doll. Semantics...

I collect large GI Joes and many other action figures, and I'm gay. So much for your outdated cultural stereotypes.
