Is this really needed? Would a boy play with this? Even if I was 6 years old I wouldn't want anything to do with it because it doesn't represent anything exceptional or special or 'impossible' that I would want to pretend, it represents the norm, and as I child I wouldn't want to think that my future is defined solely by 'a big heart' and 'fantastic sense of humor'. Human society has developed largely because there are risk-takers and adventurers and those who are willing to leave what they know, in search of what might be. As a child (or adult for that matter) the people I admire don't 'redefine what it is to be manly', but live their lives as men. Obviously this has hit a raw nerve with me....

More options is always a good thing. But it's obviously going to be a very, very, very niche item. Same as the girl doll. I think the designers heart is in the right place but absolutely fails to make the dolls fun or exciting in any way. They are like the modern version of Kenner's Dusty. I think Mattel did a better job with their different optional height and body styles for Barbie because the dolls are still pretty and fashionable.

No doubt the sales of these are going to be miniscule in comparison to DC Superhero girls or any of the various 12 inch action hero dolls.

I honestly didn't watch the whole video, but didn't really look like it was being marketed as an action figure "for boys", just a regular male doll.
I'm sure a lot of little kids just make their dolls do "normal stuff", they don't all have to be "fashion" dolls or "superheroes".
Heck, my kid is obsessed with baby dolls that poop! We go through baby wipes and preemie diapers like you wouldn't believe.
