Now if it was the other way around, then it wouldn't be so bad.

I'd personally hate to see this happen, as Hasbro is a local company where I live and I could see a lot of jobs being lost if the two consolidate into one headquarters, and I assume that Hasbro would be the one to re-locate to the West Coast Mattel Headquarters. I like the two companies competing with each other to keep prices down and keep each other on their toes.

If the two companies merge they'd obviously have access to each other's molds. So, if they'd do a retro 12 inch GI JOE there is no reason to think they'd use a retro Ken body for it. The point was Mattel has no problem getting affordable 12 inch clothed dolls to retail (just look at the Batman vs Superman dolls) and Hasbro doesn't do that anymore.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I honestly don't think we will ever see more classic Joes after the huge disappointment on the 50th anniversary of the figure.
