    Anyone else....

....dissappointed in the new Star Wars toys?
Every where you look there is a Star Wars tie in merchandising....
Why then isn't there some REALLY cool SW toys? They just seem to be rather....meh.

I'd love to see some "mego-like" ones with cloth clothes and ships sized to fit them.

Mego style would be nice. I tend to overlook the 3-4" versions, but the 6" Black series is pretty nice. My son is getting the Black Series Tie Fighter for Christmas, that thing is huge, I don't know where we'll put it but it's "Most Impressive".

^ attach a small hook to it and another to a string and hang it from the ceiling.

The hooks make for easy detachment for play.

I actually really like the new Hasbro Force Awakens toys. They have a great Kenner vibe too them.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I only like the "Mego" clothes and figure format for a nostalgia buzz. A sharp, clean character figure with any kind of "soft goods" is a tricky if not expensive venture. And that explains why I'm not interested in Star Wars toys in the Mego style or anything close to it... I want a relatively affordable collection with a wide spectrum of characters within that universe.

The 3 and 3/4 scale fell out of favor with me a while back as I got very excited about MOTUC and DCUC and even Marvel Legends (and Select too). The bigger 6-inch and 7-inch scale isn't too big (granted I like the retro GG SW Jumbos and giant MOTU retro figs, but I ascribe that to the nostalgia factor---still, no soft goods) and its a relatively affordable scale(s).

When I heard about the 6-inch mass-marketed scale Black Series I was ecstatic. Since Force Awakens appeared on the radar, it's taken an odd turn, the Force Awakens 6-inchers sandwiched between waves with Megoey soft goods on the Emperor and (ugh) soft goods on the preview of Farmboy Luke yet to be released.

As always I'd like more DC, Marvel, Star Wars, MOTU stuff---problem starts when one approach of manufacturing/design takes priority over another. financial success of the brand is affected---and, more importantly, the future trends of the format.

And, it also affects what I can get on me shelves, sailors!

All that's why I'm afraid of Lucasfilm or their licencors like Hasbro (who would sub-licence a part of the action figure output) trying to Mego-ize Star Wars at the moment---their Megoey 12-inchers were kinda cool---but just a failure enough to put priorities elsewhere as far as I can see.

I've been concentrating on the Hasbro 6 inch Black Series for the last couple of years. The TFA offerings in that scale are pretty good.

I do still like the fully articulated Black Series 3.75 inch scale figures, too. Next wave of those looks great.

Haven't bought many of the 5POA figures, but I really like the vintage vibe they have.

I like the huge interactive figures. Well overpriced but fun looking. They seem to have an abundance of different price points on figures so there's a little bit for everyone. I am noticing allot of stuff for the little kids though. Hey, it's Disney. What should we expect?

Only thing I've really liked is the large size figures. Nearly life size Yoda and R2-D2 are pretty neat.

That said, I think part of it for me is that Star Wars has constantly been on the shelf for more than a decade now. The packages, while often changing, have been drab black with a bit of white mixed in for YEARS. I get that it's how Star Wars has always been branded, but they're desperately in need of some exciting new packaging to me. Bright colors or something. I remember when they first did the Kenner-style packages, it caught my eye again. But they've been doing that for a long time now.

I mostly just ignore the SW stuff because it all looks the same in the package. Nothing to draw my eye to it.
