In the right light it's super cool. Kinda hoping they steer away from the black rub on future releases and do some paint sprays or splatters.Comment

Those are pretty cool, any place to pick these up at a reasonable price?Comment

I'll be honest, probably not. Most go for $100 plus on eBay. Super7 will probably release another 5 or so I would imagine. They announce the releases on their social media sites. They go quickly!Comment

I didn't even know these existed until I stumbled upon them this week at Secret Base in the trendy hipster Harajuku district in Tokyo. I don't know why, I assumed they would be ReAction priced and was a bit floored that the retail price was $50 for such a tiny boxed figure. Since I had just picked up a number of awesome Alien pieces for Super-Cheap at Mandarake (including a giant boxed 14" Alien Warrior for $60), I bit the bullet and bought one (the green one was all they had left... store exclusive the guy told me).

These tend to be limited run figures aimed at collectors, hence the high prices. On the other hand, mass market sofubi aimed at kids are dirt cheap, I saw a wall of Ultraman sofubi at a Japan Toys R Us for less than five bucks a pop.Comment

Plus, many of them are hand-cast, hand-pulled Japanese vinyl. Not sure if the Alien figure is hand-pulled, but a lot of the "boutique" places like Secret Base do employ this old school method. I'm not sure how many they make, but I would be surprised if these runs were over 100 pieces. 50 for Super7 and 50 for Secret Base.Comment

I missed getting one by a few minutes, was at my son's school when the ordering opened, and a few minutes later they were sold out.Comment
