Funko should make some Space: 1999 ReAction figures. I can't believe no one's clamoring for them. I'd buy as many of those as I will the Star Trek ones.

wouldn't Space 1999 Funko have the same problem FTC did? No Martin Landau or Barbara Bain?

I already have three of the Product Enterprise vehicles, which are fantastic. Only looking for a UFO Interceptor now.
Maybe this will be the way to complete my collection, because Prod Enterpise is really expensive these days...

Pure conjecture on my part, but I would think with the level of sculpting on the Funko figures, they could totally circumvent likeness issues. I mean, do any of their figures truly look like the actors playing those characters? Not trying to be crappy or disrespectful to them, either--I like a lot of those figures and they're very fun, but those likenesses just aren't there.

Funko could use their Schwarzenegger "sculpt" on a Commander Koenig, and nobody would notice. It would just be "generic looking guy number two".
As a matter of fact, I wouldn't use "Funko" and "Likeness" in the same sentence...

Yeah, their Eagle is a piece of art. I'm trying to hold on to that one myself.
Sorry you had to lose yours...

From the small time I did have my P.E. Eagle I did learn one crucial thing ..........

DO NOT try and lift it with the pod unattached.

Our very own John Michaels warned us about this and he was soooo right.

I highly suspect that even Funko figures aren't possible when it comes to Landau/Bain.

While Funko gets around likeness rights well (their Back to the Future license didn't include Fox or Lloyd's likeness) I strongly believe that even the non likeness rights are in jeopardy.

Other than DVD/Blu Ray (which is probably negotiated separately) I can't think of a piece of 1999 merch that has featured them in the last 15 years. Even the latest Round 2 kits feature Nick Tate and Catherine Schell. I know they also feature a promotional autograph but they are oddly missing from everything.

I've also spoken to a few folks in the 1999 collector community who have told me that Barbra Bain was really non plussed about all the merchandise they didn't get paid for.

couldn't even use their pics on the cards. If Bain and Landau are mad about all the years they got hosed on merchandising, it seems like they could cash in now. They already missed the boat at FTC. Heck there is probably some market for Mission: Impossible stuff too.
