    Funko Aliens ReAction series 2

they have recently dropped... what do we think?

Are you in for more, or is it time to move onto ALIENS, and Colonel Marines!

I'm very anxious to see what they do with the Alien Queen in this format.

and still awaiting my playset that was ordered at SDCC.

I love them. I get the dislike people have for chestburster Kane, and I'll agree it's a bit of a "lazy" wave in that they didn't really do a lot of new sculpting here. But I still love them. In fact, I went out at lunch today and picked up all but Chestburster from Barnes and Noble. Would've got them all, but those were all they had.

Lol. Ignore my last reply.....hit a barnes and noble while driving my daughter around to sleep (didn't work) and picked up face hugged and metallic alien. So glad I didn't buy the lien from the first wave....this one is way better.

But face hugged is really making me want to break the moc policy I have with reaction figures.

Yeah, the metallic alien is a nice nod to the Kenner 18 inch.

I might pick up the Alien, but other than that, the first series is good enough for me.

I HAD to open my SDCC exclusives this year... they came in "blind box" style eggs. You don't know what you have until you open 'em up. Basically series 2, in translucent and glitter for the most part.

Does anyone else think Ripley's helmet looks like the giggling space ghost from Scooby Doo?

Yeah, I would've opened those, as well as the proto style ones they did last year, but I meant carded exclusives, actually.

To me, they didn't make enough effort with this series 2.
Both in sculpts and paints, minimal work was done, and the face sculpts are too cartoon-like. Ripley's space suit seems almost unpainted (as do Kane's pants and shoes), and her features kind of Chinese.

I think the Alien is fun, a mini Kenner 18", that's true.
But now that I've seen them, I'll stick to series 1. Those really feel retro Kenner to me.

                          .
                          .

The first set was created under the supervision by somebody i know, there was a lot of passion there and it's sorely missed.

Series two was done by the Funko team and it shows, like a lot of the Funko reaction, it's really hit or miss and sometimes feels a little phoned in.

If you look at some of the vintage Kenner/Mego/Mattel stuff, it's nicely detailed with good likeness.

I agree with that, and yet, they are still the most appealing toys out there, even with the sculpting quibbles. I haven't the power to resist them.
