I like them but I'll rather be able to walk into a toystore for them and they'll probably be expensive. Love the dragon though. -
These are a little nicer, but they kinda remind me of the generic True Legends action figures you see at TRU.Leave a comment:

Nice looking fantasy figures. Not really getting the D&D vibe though and I am disappointed in the lack of female figures. But if these were regular retail toys I'd still get them.Leave a comment:

I'm really excited for these. I'm a huge fan of the Four Horseman's other 4 inch figures (Power Lords and The Outer Space Men), and I really like the concept of parts that you can mix and match to create your own characters, so I'm all in for this one.Leave a comment:

I love 4" scale and wish I had the money to do this. I wouldn't touch most of those lines you mentioned with a 10' pole, and I wouldn't let the pole touch motu. Scale matters!

Mythic Legions or The Closest We're Gonna Get to Modern Dungeons & Dragons Figures
The Four Horsemen's Mythic Legions Kickstarter campaign kicks off in just a few weeks, and I'm kind of excited to see where this thing is going. The line of barbarians, knights, dwarves, orcs, elves, mages and more looks to offer a healthy range of initial figures, some of which have already been shown at various cons.
The 4H appear to be planning a storyline for the characters through bios and web comics. The strategy is to launch Legions at a 4" scale for several reasons, most notably to allow for larger creatures, mounts, giants, dragons, etc., as well as making it a tad less expensive to bulk up those armies. Interestingly, one of the Kickstarter's stretch goals could unlock production of the line at a 6" scale. Not sure how that is going to work exactly, but I'm sure we'll find out in the next few weeks.
One of the characters, Sir Gideon Heavensbeard, bears a slight resemblance to the Dungeons & Dragons character Strongheart. Knowing the 4H, I doubt that's a coincidence. Personally I'd rather have an official Dungeons & Dragons line with updated characters from LJN's Advanced D&D line, as well as the animated series and possibly more. But I don't see Hasbro doing anything like that, and their Wizards of the Coast acquisition prevents anyone one else from tackling it. So this looks to be about as close as D&D fans are gonna get to a Strongheart any time soon.
Not to take anything away from Mythic Legions (keep wanting to call them Mythic Legends), they're certainly beautiful figures in their own right and really excellent renditions of various classic fantasy types. And despite being an unknown, original property, the Four Horsemen have a very loyal fan base, so I'm certain this Kickstarter will be a success.
The 4" scale always alienates a number of collectors, and I know a lot of people are turned off by 4" fantasy figures not fitting in with their existing Gothitropolis, Ravens, MOTUC, LotR, Magic the Gathering or Game of Thrones Legacy collections. In that respect a 6" stretch goal could be key. But, as is, these may be compatible with other 4" Kickstarter-born fantasy lines like Boss Fight Studio's Vitruvian HACKS (their next assortment is to be fantasy based), and October Toys has a whole bunch of Skeleton Warriors shipping soon. What really sells me on the 4" scale though is knowing how much available space I have and the possibilities hinted at by Joe Amaro's custom Mythic Legions Dragonian Knight 2-up below (sold at StoreHorsmen.com). How does everyone else feel about Mythic Legions? Are you pumped for the Kickstarter? Disappointed already? Who's pledging? Find out more about Mythic Legions here.
