Star Wars Figure Prices Raised to $15!

I haven't collected modern Star Wars for years now, but I'm pretty sure this will finish off anyone else who still does…

That's from a Target in Northern California. Prices are now $12.99 and up for a 3 3/4" figure. Just unbelievable.

ReAction figures are officially a BARGAIN at only $9.99

From what I've read, that's only for the Target chain and only a few stores have the $15.29 price. No other chains have followed suit. Target's pricing has always varied from area to area with figures costing a couple of dollars premium in larger cities or more affluent areas. Now, I wouldn't be surprised if the price goes up to $11.99 or $12.99 nationwide. But I don't see the $15 price becoming standard for the 3 3/4 inch Black Series.

The Black Series has been hit or miss for me. Terrible character selection, iffy paint and so-so sculpts made worse by the over articulation for the scale, like Dagobah Luke. I will continue to pick up a few of the classic trilogy figures in the Black Series here and there but the Saga/Rebels line is much more fun and interesting to me. Better character selections, sculpts with a Kenner vibe and price. The sculpt of the upcoming Saga Empire Yoda puts the Black Series one to shame.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Yes, these prices are so far, only at Target. Hasbro Toy Shop is still $9.99. But still, if this is a sign of things to come, it's really pretty poor. I don't have a horse in the race, but I hate to see people who've been loyal to the line get ripped off.

Currently the Target I go to in Southern California is still at the original price. If the price does go up at all stores to $15 than Hasbro is going to see a lot more collectors buying less! $15 for a 3 3/4" Star Wars action figure is just completely ridiculous and is not right!

That's always been the selling point of ReAction, though. Crappy figures with bad paint, poor sculpting and no likeness... But hey only $10! And of a license you like.

Target did this to the JLU line, jumping the price from $5.99 a figure to $9.99. They were the only chain carrying the line at that point, and they killed it dead at retail.

They have been at $18-20 here for ages...

Interesting to see people's varied takes on this

Not sure how I feel about it, as I haven't collected this scale in Star Wars for years---and, with the debut of the 6-inch SW BS, I never will be interested in 3 and 3/4 scale SW ever again. BUT, if there's something irresistible to ME? Heck, I don't care if it's undesirable size/scale, poor likeness, over-articulation etc... I'll STILL buy it, no matter WHAT price (barring what I personally view as absolute insanity: Like $70 for the 12-inch GG SW figs).

The question becomes "What will the overall public accept?" for any given line. Over the years, I've found it amazing which lines die, and which ones live (if only through online exclusive stuff).

^^^^THAT SAID: PRICE DOES indeed come into it in the OPPOSITE way too----if something is REALLY REALLY affordable, and I'm on the fence, then I'm buyin' it!

Star Wars has been dead at the retail level in my area since the Phantom Menace 3D disaster. Finding anything new on the pegs the last several years is a rarity and I've already been paying $12 to $15 for new figures online. So, my stress level, for this price increase at a few select stores at only one chain, is pretty low.

I didn't notice this at my local Target since they are cleaned out of Star Wars figures. I did see that they are now charging $12.99 for the 3.75 Marvel Universe figures. Target does some strange things with toy pricing at times.
