3d printed heads of rare action figures-is it possible?

We have all seen an explosion of what can be done with 3d printers and how they can "put your head on an action figure."

But I always wondered if such a head could be made for a rare figure say SMDM's Dr. Kromedome or IronJaw from Big Jim? I mean it shouldn't be as hard to do as a real person since they are less detailed. Are the photos online good enough for them to use?

Maybe there is copyright issues. But if the person doing the printing didn't care ...

I was wondering if anyone else has thought of this or even tried it? I would be great to get a small batch of some of our dream figures made and split the costs.

I tried making a 3D Model of a head from a figure with some software a few years back and for some reason it never came out right ones of real people worked well but toys not a chance and I was using 12 " sideshow and Kenner Dolls
