Where do all the toys go?

Not sure if this topic is in the right section, but i've often wondered where does all the clearance toys go? i've heard usually to discount chains but what if they don't sell there either? where next?- third world countries? recycled? hmm...........

I've seen them pop up at yard sales. Seriously. And this was en masse, not just someone buying out a lot of cheap toys, this was a truckload of clearance stuff.

I heard that Target sent stuff they didn't clearance to Goodwill stores. Not sure if they still do this, but I believe they did in the past. And they clearance stuff like no other.

Toys R Us just keeps the stuff there until it disintegrates, I believe.

Target definitely sends clearance items to Goodwill here in mid Missouri. Our local GW usually has a bunch of random furniture, socks, and toys that all have Target clearance stickers under their Goodwill price tags.

Warehouse finds still happen. Usually they're uncovered from a warehouse that's sat unused for a while, or discovered in the back of a storage locker. Or in the basement of an owner of a store in the 70s/80s.

so if goodwill is unable to sell their inventory, i wonder what they do with them?

In St Louis (and presumably other large urban areas), Goodwill has an outlet store that basically dumps things into bins and sells by the pound. If unsold after that, I suppose they hit the landfill.

^Well, there's a landfill full of Atari E.T. games, so why not?

I'd go digging through a M.A.S.K. landfill! You can keep Spawn and Xena.

They also go to second string stores like Tuesday Morning. They have a bunch of the Kre-o Battleship and Trek sets right now that others closed out long ago.

I would go hunting in a landfill for toybiz XENA figures.
