I just had a look at this figure over at another site and I thought it was awful. The face doesn't remind me of the Hulk at all and the picture they used for the packaging is way off the face sculpt they used. I think the pants are the worst part though, and the way they "lump" at the top of the calf looks really odd. I think you might change your mind on this one, enyawd72, after you see the loose pics?

I still like him...I think he's really ugly in that grotesque Frankenstein way that he first appeared. Even the clothes have an almost crude quality to the sculpt. It just screams Kirby to me. I'm expecting a gray variant with blue pants and an orange shirt down the road too.

I like the head. Hopefully someone will cast it in Mego-size.

It's a old school early Hulk.
Not bad, but I still haven't found the perfect Marvel Select Hulk so far.
I collect the "heavy hitters" of the line, but Hulk hasn't convinced me yet...

In my head, I can now hear Hulk talking like Nicholas Cage...

The box art is from FF 25. Kirby couldn't hold to one Hulk design even for a solid issue, so a 3d sculpt is never going to match. That's part of the reason Ditko took over with issue 3.

Kirby-style figures never work because the artists always screw up the nose. The main difference between Ugly Hulk and Super Hulk is Ugly had very human traits where Super was more Ape-like. Without the boxer's nose, you lose the dark circles and sunken eyes.

There's something very Karloffy about that face. It's the mouth, I think.

I still like my Kirbyesque Marvel Legends figure. It's not dead-on, but it captures the spirit of the early Kirby/Ditko Hulk.

Everybody be honest---if Marvel Select did only all Romita inspired figures for the next 3 years, you all would be happy now, wouldn't you?

^Considering he defined Marvel's house style in our formative years and beyond (and was their art director for decades), I'd say "YES".

I think the eyebrows are too thin, but what really kills it for me is the pants. The back of the pants look horrible for me.
