Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie toys are out.

There are nine figures in the set so far. Which includes the trench coat Raph which is not on the back of the cards. I've honestly not gotten used to the updated looks on the movie Turtles. But the figures still look very nice and actually tone down the weird lips and noses of the CGI models. They are also in scale with the previous TMNT lines. The movie April doesn't really look like the actress or the angry looking prototype on the card. But it's still a nice looking April that is in perfect scale with the other TMNT figures.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

The new Nicktoon Turtles wave with Slash and Rahzar is also now hitting the pegs.

I like the nicktoons TMNT much better too. But all things considered, I like the movie toys way more than I thought I would. I'm really looking forward to the movie Turtle Van. It looks like a nice update to the original Party Wagon and unlike Nicktoons Shellraiser (which is completely empty on the inside) the new van actually has seats and a steering wheel.

A little under five inches. Too tall to fit in with Star Wars and GI jOE and way too small for Marvel Legends. But in perfect scale with the Nicktoon Turtles and other TMNT lines.

                New trailer.

The human lips on the CGI Turtles still creep me out and Shredder definitely looks like a Bayformer with his overly busy design with tons sharp metal bits all over the place. Ten or so years ago it probably would have really bugged me. But now the level of nerd rage I can muster is only "Eh, it's fine. Could have been a lot worse." Even if the movie is absolutely horrible, we still get some really nice toys out of it.

I think they've made a mistake in making the Turtles so...ugly. I saw a backpack with the movie versions right next to the nicktoons versions. It just really made them look even more monstrous.

My 12-year old is on the fence on this one, and you gotta figure they want his age locked in.

It may surprise me and work on screen, but at first blush, it's kind of "UGH".

That April does look nice, though.

That's the first I've seen anything from this movie, they look a bit....extreme. I mean that in a "late 90s action figures" kind of way....

Yeah, they definitely are running the risk of creeping out the all the kids used to the lovable Nicktoon Turtles.

They totally do have that 90s "edgy" and "extreme" vibe to them. Reminds me a bit of those god awful Jim Lee hulked up TMNT figures Playmates did in the 90s.

^I'd forgotten about those. They do look like that, and their masks remind me of that live-action TV show Saban did.

Oh, yeah, Leo and Donnie tied their masks in the over the head Zorro style in that. Next Mutation wasn't terrible and I kinda liked Venus. The Power Ranger cross over episodes are pretty cringe worthy though. But At least the Turtles still had their regular beaks and faces.

I guess if kids like the new movie enough these figures will move off the shelves. My son is a big fan of the Nick TMNT figures, which are really excellent action figures. When I see Playmates produce a playset like this: http://www.toysrus.com/buy/play-sets...95010-12897673 it really reminds me of the kind of toys we got as a kid.

That huge Turtle Lair playset is awesome. It's rare to see playsets that large and detailed these days. It does seem like a throwback to the large playsets of the 70s and 80s. It does take up a lot of room though. It really is massive

For playset that doesn't take up so much room I recommend the Anchovy Alley Pop Up playset. It unfolds to a good sized playset but folds back down to a small pizza box shape. Very cool!
