    Marvel Disk Wars Japanese Figures

Not sure if these are exclusive to Japan, but they were made for the Japanese Market primarily, are in Japanese packaging, and are showing up everywhere there as we were Toy Hunting in Tokyo. There is some kind of transformer/battle game associated with them as well.

The display at the Bandai head office in Asakusa (where my hotel was located)

Also at the Hot Toys showroom/Toy Sapiens

and Kiddy Land, a chain of toy stores in Japan.

The boxed ones with the figures are very cool.

I didn't realize it at the time, but the thicker badges transform into figures!

this seems to be some kind of Pokemon type game mash-up?

The animated series for the Japanese market...

Cool pics, in retrospect I wish I had picked up a couple of the ones that came with figures.

And wow, I never saw the Bandai head office before! So it's near Akihabara? (never been to Asakusa)

Asakusa is a couple of stops away from Akihabara, and if we're planning for next year, there are a few family friendly things in the vicinity, including a sad amusement park just beside one of the major tourist trap temples (the street food there is amazing). The SkyTree is also in the vicinity for a ride up the elevator and view of Tokyo, and there is a beautiful little paved path that snakes along either side of the river that was a nice little respite from the crowded craziness of the city.

I'm not sure if there is anything to see inside (or if we're even allowed in), but there are fun photo ops because of the character statues that line the sidewalk.

            and display windows

I think you mentioned that you've been to the Bandai Museum before they moved it from Matsudo to Mibu (looks like a little over an hour away?).

Sounds good, I've been wanting to check out SkyTree.

So that's where it is now. If it is anything like the one I went to, it is a MUST SEE, fantastic collection of old Popy/Bandai toys.

according to the link, it's about 100km from Tokyo.

                  With Tobu railways
The closest railway station to the museum is Omochanomachi station, served by a line of Tobu Railways, the Utsunomiya Line.
To reach this station from Tokyo you have to go to Asakusa station and there take a "rapid" train of the Tobu Nikko Line (the same to reach Nikko). Get off at Shin Tochigi station and there change with the Utsunomiya line.
The whole journey costs 1160 yen one way and it takes about 2 hours.
Once at Omochanomachi station, the museum is located 1 kilometer away, just print a simple map or ask around.

Well it certainly looks more open, brighter and modern compared to the old location (I think I posted pics of the old place here at one point).
