Seems Mattel is finished with '66 Batman...

Mattel showed everything they have coming from DC and MOTU, and '66 Batman was nowhere to be seen. Even the previously shown Surfs Up Joker was missing, leading me to believe that figure will never be released either.

They did show a pretty cool 12" prototype Skeletor...with incorrect He-Man arms. Some things never change.

Surf's Up Joker is there, but that's it. I was disappointed to see nothing new. Maybe they are saving some things back for a surprise...although I doubt it.

Check out the video from AFI:

I hope you're wrong... They really need to release Batgirl.

I could have sworn I saw pics before that showed Surfs Up Joker next to the Eli Wallach version of Mr Freeze...

Even though this is supposed to be the toy event, SDCC seems to have had the bigger reveals the past few years. Wasn't Retro-Action an SDCC reveal? Most of the best Matty noise is now made there. I've seen more Four Horseman proto stuff revealed at SDCC with final product at Toy Fair.

And that makes better sense to me, cause it's sooo easy to drown in SDCC coverage that you have to do something big since that's the marketing vehicle to the public and Toy Fair, IIRC, is still designed as a trade show.

They must still be planning on releasing Surf's Up Joker at least, otherwise why show it at Toy Fair? Maybe they are holding out the announcements of other new figures 'til later in the year, to tie them in to the release of the TV series on DVD. Still, I wished they would have announced SOMETHING, even if it was a simple "line's not dead, more info to come at future date," just so that I wouldn't feel so worried and anxious about it.

In related news: I need to get a life, so I stop feeling "worried" and "anxious" about future toy releases.

Mattel is just lame enough to finish the 66 line without Batgirl. If all they are going to offer as a new release is this Surf's Up Joker they should have just stuck with their initial statement last year that the line is finished.

Would it be possible that they would release Surf's Up Joker on one of their online avenues? I'm just happy I picked up the ones that were made, including the two-pack, for $40 shipped on Amazon right before Christmas.

I'd be willing to bet there is another wave to tie into the release of the show on DVD and blu-ray.

I finally saw product in person today at TRU. Standard Batman and Joker, Catwoman and Surfin Batman. And the most beautiful piece of black plastic I ever saw...$20+ for each figure and over $60 for the car...man that's some expensive plastic...

I wouldn't be surprised if Batman '66 showed up in their new 3 3/4" line. Unless someone else has grabbed that scale of license given how thin they have sliced out the license across all scales and companies.

I saw cars at all three nearby TRU's in Houston. One of them had 6 of them. Only one had figures though.
