that is pure crap if Hasbro does nothing for the 50th 12 inch wise.

Can't believe Hasbro has never made 3 3/4" figures of the Adventure Team. (Other than the club exclusive Joe figures) Would love to see a Bulletman, Atomic Man and an Intruder.
And yes, no 12" for the 50th is complete BS, and so wrong.Comment

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...Comment

So it's the 50th anniversary of the 1964 painted head GI Joe and
all Hasbro has to offer is some Club exclusive Adventure Team figure
as well as some 50th anniversary logos on their modern product?
That's lame.
Couldn't they just use the molds and patterns from the 40th anniversary line
to produce some 1964 repros and release them in some cool 50th anniversary packaging?
That shouldn't have been too difficult to do. Or would it have been too expensive?Comment

Would love to see more nods to the 70s action figures, but it seems the thirty-something generation is driving the Kreo and Lego bus. Tmnt, 80s style GI joe (terrordrome), transformers, simpsons.... If Mattell got into the buildables game, they would probably make heman.Comment

I am not familiar with KreO, but I'm glad that those who are into it are getting some due.
I just fail to understand what they and the 3.5ers have to do with the 50th anniversary of the original 12 inch action figure?
50 years ago the figure that started it all came into existence, shouldn't that figure scale be (at the very least) included in the celebration? It seems absurd to me.
It would be like celebrating the 60th anniversary of Godzilla by releasing a special Blu-Ray edition of the Broderick film and ignoring the 1954 classic. It's so bizarre.Comment

Not that it necessarily applies to classic Kung Fu grip and Battle Scar Joe, but their top brand RAH characters have been licensed out in 1/6th format to Sideshow.
Perhaps it's that they don't see sixty year olds as a viable consumer demographic for toys? That Niche doesn't seem to work for Hasbro if you can't get Star Wars level sales. Most guys I know that are that age are pretty much downsizing.
According to my brother, the Joe collector, most of the product that is coming out isn't actually Hasbro, but licensed out to the GI Joe Collectors Club, that you have to subscribe to.
The Joe movies obviously aren't translating into Transformers level toy sales either from the looks of the toy stores/departments.Comment

I'm not sure that mass market Star Wars toys are selling all that well either. Of course this is merely anecdotal, but each of 7 or 8 SoCal Toys R Us stores I venture into semi-regularly have nearly an entire aisle dedicated to Star Wars merchandise that never seems to move. Equally true with the Toy Story/Nickelodeon aisle, and slightly less true with the super hero and wrestling aisles.
Not so sure the 60 year old demographic is the only market for 12 inch scale either. Retail outlets sold mass quantities of 12 inch action figures from soldiers to monsters throughout the mid 90s up through the early 00s. That generation is just now beginning to form families of their own...which could mean a swing back toward that scale. As we all know...trends come, go, and return.
Maybe it's just me, but I think they're missing a perfect opportunity to spearhead the next pendulum swing, instead of chasing after it 2-3 years from now. The 53rd anniversary doesn't quite have the same ring to it, which is why I guess they're not calling this particular celebration what it seems to be...the 32nd anniversary of the 3.75 scale GI Joe.Comment
