Wow, I thought they were going to bring it in at $300 retail. Do you think the market will be there at a price so close to (or above) the original it's based on?

That's just ridiculous. NECA is selling their 18 inch figures for $100.
There is absolutely NO justification for that price whatsoever. $500 will buy you a mint loose original.

Gentle Giant is getting greedy...just like Sideshow.

This is nothing short of ridiculous pricing. I'm not surprised at all after that $400 Wampa. I hope this bubble bursts soon.

Yeah, I totally forgot about the Wampa...what a joke. You can buy a 31 inch Darth Vader for $23 at Wal-Mart right now.

What about those new 12" Star Wars figures that are $10? And those are all new sculpts. GG uses a scanner to blow up an old Kenner figure to 12" and wants $100 for it. LOL

I was hoping this would be cheaper, but alas plastic nostalgia is going for big dollars now it seems. I'll be sticking with my vintage boxed Alien...

This was one of my most anticipated figures this year. I honestly can't imagine these will sell well at $400-$500. That's just nuts. It's just a big hunk of molded plastic. This should not have retailed for more than $200, tops. So disappointed.

Yeah, once I heard that their 22" Wampa was $400, I was sadly assuming that their Alien would be at least that much if not more, considering the extra tooling involved compared to the Wampa. I would have paid $200 for this, but $400-500? Hell, I paid $400 for a boxed vintage one.

I just feel sorry for all the deluded people out there, specially for the jumbo collectors (I peak on the RS forums) who think these will be worth money one day keeping them on mint cards. Well they wont be worth Jack, because your all keeping them that way, even loose they are not getting bashed around. Sure back in the day, when toys were really toys, and boxes trashed etc. The way I look at this there are 7 billion people on this planet, and they make 1500 pieces say, and these things are still easily found on the secondary market. sometimes cheaper than the retail price, so there cant be that much of a demand for them. Sure I collect modern collectables, but not in a million years do I think Ill retire on these things, but simply enjoy them. Plus U can pickup a vintage boxed version for around the same price, which will at least hold its value.

I also don't get the SW collectors that seal their toys in Lucite with some meaningless grade. But I also don't think the extreme vocal minority online represent SW fans as a whole. I collect some of the Jumbo SW figures but I am under no illusion they will ever be valuable and that's not why I collect them. I just think they are cool. I also open them and toss the bubbles. They take up way too much room.

The only value any of my toys (new and old) have is the happiness they bring me.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I even went through a thread on "Rs" discussing how many pieces of sticky tape each clamshell should have on thier jumbos, because some guy had bought one on the secondary market and was worried it had already been opened, crazy people I tell ya !!!! and I was bored at the time lol..
