Monster High - Investment Potential?

So, as I mentioned in a previous thread, I've been planning on hoarding Monster High stuff. I figured this upcoming garage sale season of 2014, I'd find a ton of it. Well, I realized I didn't even have to wait until then, because every single time I go to the thrift store, there are at least 3 in there and sometimes big bags full of them. So already parents are dumping them.

This is just 3-4 trips to the local thrift stores around here:

If that's just a two/three Saturdays worth of stuff, in 1-2 years time I could probably have a couple of hundred.

So, would it pay to sell them now or just accumulate them for the future? What do you think, will Monster High and other modern be a hot collectible in the future or just go the way of POTF II Star Wars or Bratz dolls?

I am not an expert on these dolls at all, but just based on what I see in the stores and such, it seems like they are flooding the market with product.

The first issue boxed dolls and convention exclusives will probably hold some value. Beyond that, there are a ton of these out there as illustrated by your recent finds. You would probably do best turning them over quickly vs. taking the time and energy to store them.

That was my hunch. I might lot them out then tonight or maybe build up some more.

I think the demand for these has died down in our area. At Christmas and after the shelves were still stocked pretty heavily. I don't know what that means down the line, but as of right now, supply seems to be meeting or exceeding demand, at least around here.

Seems to me the male characters will hold value--I thought of collecting just them, but they're short-packed .

I'm sure all first Wave first runs will hold the Value. And the Guys seem to be very Scarce. Naturally first runs with boxes will hold premium Values. Store exclusives and convention exclusives always do well for resale.

if you want to invest just let me know, I got some beanie babies for sale I doubt these will be worth much after a few years

My daughter had a ton of dolls and playsets. We sold them all on eBay, with the exception of the boxed ones from SDCC.
