    DC Total Heroes Line

AFI has the rundown on series one:

I lament the death of the DCUC-style line, but I applaud Mattel for offering a lower-cost line for kids. $10 for these will be a steal when nearly all 3.75" figures now cost that much.

Not digging the new 52 look, but I guess it's here for now.

Could definetely make some Popeye customs with those forearms. I'm so glad for Megos.

At least Aquaman is getting some love these days. Though he needs to dump the trident, it's stereotyping him. Get a laser pistol ray gun, Arthur! Embrace the future!

What is up with Superman's package? You have Hillbilly Supes over to the side, the standard "S" symbol, which isn't on the figure, and the Golden Age logo?

I like the design of the packages but that's a head-scratcher.

The figures are ok but the packaging is dullsville. It should pop.

Just tall enough not to work with Brave&Bold figures and the current line at Target, right? Thanks again Mattel. The thigh/knee compared to the forearm/elbow looks stupid too. I guess it's still better than $10 for 'Different shade of tan 27' Anakin or Rainbow Movie Iron Man in the 3 3/4 lines.

              Sincerely,
              Nancy Negative.

Yeah, it's not the greatest...but I kind of like it. DCUC and Unlimited have done orange to death. So I can kind of understand the "chrome" direction. I like the artwork on the sides. It pops better than the chip in the package in the Unlimited line.

I know this puts me squarely in Oldsterville, but using "Total" reminds me of the Total Justice debacle and bins full of contorted figures with fractal armor at KB.

^Yeah, that's a good point. I have to say, despite the clunky designs, these are nicer looking TOYS.

Those are cool but I'm more interested in the similar 3 3/4th line. I already have the Batman and Joker figures from the 3 3/4th extension of the Batman: Power Attack line.

The John Stewart deluxe set that's linked in the origin article is tempting though...

Hillbilly Supes! LOL Chris! I so hate that design.

I love the idea of basic superheroes line being available at a decent price, that's a staple that should never be out of stock.

While the packaging is competent, it reminds me of getting dressed down at Barnes and Noble head office a few years ago. Buyer looked at my cover design and said "Soap! I'll pass". To me, this looks like shower gel.

^Ha! I can see that now that you mention it. Total Heroes...with Dandruff Control.

Mattel has done some truly god-awful package design (The Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises lines spring to mind), so this looks like a masterpiece compared to those.

I do wonder why someone doesn't try the 4-color look again, ala Super Powers. No one has done it in decades.

I like them, to the extent that I'll grab an Aquaman.

                              That design is terrible.
