the Unending parade of Hot Toys Iron Man continues
I think they're milking this Iron Man thing to death, especially since there are so many other awesome Marvel characters that haven't been done.. I'd fork over cash right now for a Nicholas Hammond Spider-Man, Lou Ferrigno Hulk, Alfred Molina Doc Ock, or Willem Dafoe Green Goblin.
Heck, I'd even love to see some of the movie X-Men...a Patrick Stewart Professor X and Ian McKellan Magneto would be freaking awesome.
If you only collect HT Iron Man, you might be able to follow this line.
And only eat peanut butter sandwiches for like ten years...
Don't get me wrong, they are terrific figures. I was lucky enough to trade one at a convention, and so I'm happy with just this one representative of the Stark clan.

While my interest in the Hot Toys Iron Man figures dimmed some time ago, I can understand why they still make them. There's a huge marketplace in this country and others throughout the world. Countries like Japan who worship heroes like Ultraman have rabid fans. So I'm confident Hot Toys are making big money on each one of these. I dare say the merchandising possibilities will far outlive the movie life of the character. Japan alone could probably sustain the line for years. Iron Man just caters to that circle of people who love robotic characters.

I would totally buy Nick Hammond Spidey and Lou Ferrigno Hulk. Hulk would sell. You think Hamond's Spidey has enough popular appeal? God, I love that suit. (Great avatar, Dwayne!)
Maybe they're trying to appeal to collectors like me who don't necessarily want their superhero toys to feature the likeness of specific actors. Ironman works great for that because of the mask. This figure appeals to both groups. Still a lot of choices though.

you've hit the nail directly on the head! Hot Toys originated from, and have been primarily targeted at collector's all over Asia. Iron Man really does hit that sweet spot for folks that have grown up with Mecha/Sentai.
There is a reason why no figures made it out of the X-Men first class line-up vs Iron Man 3. Overseas wants multiple Robocops, Terminators and Predators. Which is a shame. Hopefully we will be getting a full compliment of BAtman 66 characters.
Hopefully though, we will be getting a flood of X-Men Days of Future Past Hot Toys as a result.
The Japanese just love their robots (and what looks like robots).
Just look at all the Gundams. When the rest of us would buy a couple, in Japan these just keep coming, literally in the thousands now, when you check Hobby Japan Magazine.
If Iron Man were my only passion, this would totally be my thing.
I'm hoping to make another trade somewhere along the line, I have to say that Igor looks like a fun varation.

Well this is a Mego board after all, so perhaps not every ones cup of tea but trust, there is a huge collector market out there, especially in Asia for Hot Toys Iron Man figures. Hot Toys is a incredibly successful toy company, they know what they are doing and have done the market research.
I got Mark 42 -HeartBreaker-Igor -and Red Snapper Coming ....
I own Mark 1thur7 minus 4 .... so far
Hope to afford Tony, and the Hall of Armor soon ...
They Totally got all my current funds.
To hold all these guys infront of U's ...., is really a hard feeling to explain. They R just incredible..., and I thought I was a DC Guy .... and cuz it's Ironman, so many have been made, and appeared in the movies, as well as the comics and cartoons..., it just works . Some of the very Top demanded toys right now, and HT figures.
These Ironmen..., as well as the Core of the HT Avengers Group ... are my favorite Figures right now.
BTW ... I also got like 5 Terminators, and 6 Predators. ... like 5 Schwarzenegger 12inch figures.
U either get it, or U don't. A Shame ? ... Really ..., That was written here ? ...Thats gotta be the Most Ignorant Statement made on this Forum ..., but lets not offer our complaints or suggestive critisim about re-mego offerings. NOW THAT is a Shame .
I think it's fairly obvious that I'm a big fan of all things Hot Toys releases, and completely understand why we are getting multiple variations on the most popular selling characters.
The shame is that as a boutique company, with understandably finite resources, it would be nice to see them produce different X-Men than just Wolverine (I don't think Xavier was released was he? and Magneto was announced, but also never shown nor released). or hope for a deeper selection of Batman 66 than just the usual Batman, Robin, Joker, Catwoman and Riddler. Variety is the spice of life after all.
