I still think they should just release MOTUC at regular stores. They would sell better if they didnt make it hard to buy, lol. -

This makes me sick to my stomach to see. As does all the reports of MOTUC in Big Lots. I went to one Big Lots near me and they had none. The lady told me one Big Lots in my area got a shipment and it sold out fast without any others coming in.Comment

It really does put to question the supposed "sell outs" of figures over the years at Matty Collector when exclusives start flooding the discount chains and other discount channels like this. Also probably why their subscriber base hasn't been willing to come back to the well in past year.
There is a Mattel outlet in the suburbs here I should poke my head into more often.Comment

^This is what gripes me about Mattel. They have an open channel to their collector fan base, but they bite back at it and blame fans for not buying their product at full price and subscribing. When fans point to things like this, they say it was a one-time buy-out, blah, blah, blah....and yet it happens again and again.
The talking out of both sides of their mouth has really soured me on a lot of their stuff, and makes me less willing to take the plunge. History shows us that 90% of their "hard to find" stuff is going to resurface at close-out prices somewhere, sometime.
Will we see Castle Grayskull at this tent sale, or even Big Lots in 2 years for $50?

Speaking of Mattel, I bought my nieces some Monster High items at Big Lots, where they had an offer for an exclusive mail-in figure. I sent my $5 check and order form, then waited. Christmas came... no figure.
Yesterday, I got an envelope from Mattel. I opened it to find my check and a rather long letter stating that my check was postmarked 1 day after the mail-in offer's deadline. Not a pre-printed letter, mind you! An actual letter, starting with Dear Mr. Hoskins! Seriously! They took the time to write a letter, instead of just cashing my check, taking one figure off the pile in the warehouse and dropping it in a package! My wife and I laughed out loud at the idea there was some pencil-pusher sitting there, whose job it is to reject mail-in offers.Comment

I FINALLY found MOTUC in a Big Lots near me. All they had was 2x Count Marzo and 2x The Faceless One figures. I bought all four of them, plus 2 Ghostbusters' Vigo figures, which they had a rather large amount of.
I called every Big Lots in my area today (5 stores) and all of them told me they have nothing in stock. I would love to see those 12" Ghostbusters in there. I never realized how good those look and I know they turned up at some Big Lots for $10 each! (are you KIDDING me).Comment

I gotta keep my eyes open for the sale next year. I live close enough that it would be about a 45min drive down there.Comment
