NECA 1/4 Adam West Batman review!

IMHO, Hot Toys has some serious competition in NECA. I picked up the Avengers Captain Americas from both companies, and the NECA figures are just better TOYS. The likenesses and attention to detail are almost Hot Toys level, but they're much sturdier, almost twice the size, and only half the price.

    Check out BATMAN!

Its apples to oranges, tho. That figure is a huge Marvel Legends figure and the Hot Toys is a cloth suited doll.

Cool figure! I've noticed that FYE record stores carry these, so I'll have to check it out in person when it shows up. All things considered a very good price for the product, when you consider it's not even $20.00 more than the FTC 12 inch figures. There's food for thought. The only thing I wish they didn't have is that ab joint. On some of the six inch figures I can see why it's added to achieve certain poses for those characters. But here, it's really a waste and takes away from what could have been a nice smooth sculpt on the front to compliment the head piece. But a cool figure nonetheless. I have no doubt it will be a successful run. Lots of cool features that make it desirable. Thanks for posting the video review!

Very cool! Thank you. I love that it's challenging Hot Toys. The 1/4 scale isn't too large for your collection? It's the only thing that puts me off on the figure.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

Personally, I love the bigger scale...these are figures that would make fantastic displays for a home theater or movie room. Their size just makes them that much more impressive. Don't get me wrong, I love my Hot Toys figures too, but they're so expensive and they really are very fragile. I'm always afraid to handle them, and that's no way to treat a toy!

I agree. Thx for the response!

I'm with you completely. In fact--and I know this might sound weird--the ab joint is the one reason I'm not getting the Adam West NECA figure. Here's this wonderfully realistic sculpting, then the illusion is ruined by a huge unnecessary joint. Seriously, why is it even there?

I really love this bigger scale. I'd rather have a couple of these big scale figures than another shelf full of small ones.
Yes, I wish they had toned down the articulation a bit (the ab joint, and in the arms), but considering the price range and what you get for your $, I think this is the Adam West for me.
Who knows, maybe they gave him that ab joint to sit in his (gigantic) Batmobile? Yeah!

^If they made a Batmobile that big, I'd be in serious trouble.

You know GC...What I like about these figures most. Aside from the impressive scale, I think they strike a perfect balance between realism and toy playability.
The most beautiful figure I own is the Hot Toys Mark I Iron Man, but you know what? It never comes out of the box because it's so delicate, with so many tiny pieces I'm scared to death of breaking it.
These NECA figures are heavy duty. You can actually play with 'em.

Agreed. Once a figure becomes so delicate (and expensive) that all you can think of is "let's keep it in a vault", then you're pretty far away from the concept "action figure".
I can't help it, I want to try out a figure, check out a few poses, at least get it out of the box.
A Hot Toys figure that never leaves the box is such a shame, because it only comes alive when it's fully assembled.

One of my most fun buys this year is the 31" Darth Vader. The details are good, decent paint application, limited mobility (7 points, but Vader rarely does Kung Fu moves anyway), it's the right balance between sculpt, articulation and price.

So no matter how good a Hot Toys sculpt is, I'll probably still go for a big hunk of Vader shaped plastic!
When I'm old, I think I'll just collect a few pieces, but in larger scale. Hopefully life size!

Its nearing the end of 2013 and Han solo from the star wars black series has briefly been in The top spot for action figure of the year(at least in my house), but adam west arrived today and totally stole the show!! What an amazing figure in hand. Just so awesome. Blastoise, Han solo and Boba fett are gonna have to settle for a top five spot. I don't see anything coming in the next two months that could touch this!
