    Dynamite Toys announced

Not sure if someone else has posted about this but Dynamite Entertainment has announced the formation of Dynamite Toys.

The independent publisher behind licensed comics such as "Red Sonja" and "The Bionic Man" will launch a toy company spinoff next year.

"The first properties to appear via Dynamite's toy line will be Army of Darkness, Vampirella, Red Sonja and The Six Million Dollar Man, with the latter celebrating its 40th anniversary with action figures, a statue and "novelties" from the company. "

    Cheers,

If they run the toys like they do their comic books, expect to see multiple variant versions for every figure!

It will be interesting to see what they do for SMDM action figures since BBP has the eight inch license and Zica has the smaller scale. What's left to do unless they go after a 1/6th scale?

Maybe they have the rights to making SMDM figures based on the comic books and not the TV show? Something convoluted like the difference between Batman and Batman '66, maybe?

Either way it will be interesting to see what comes down the pipe.

Will it be the TV show version of SMDM or their Bionic Man from the comic? There are minor differences and that may be how they can do a similar size. I doubt that they would do Mego-like, though, but I worry for Zica.
          It's all good!

I feel 99.9% sure it will be the comic version, which is fine with me, even if it's in the same 4" scale. Odds are they'll probably go with a 6" scale though.

^^^ Either way my loyalties lie with Craig and Jason. They're making great product on both scales. Plus their people of integrity. That's where I'm parking my money on this license.

It makes me wonder about the Army of Darkness license as well. I realize that there may be a distinction between a film and the comic license, but I guess I had always hoped that Neca might be able to produce some AoD figures. I'm absolutely in love with their Evil Dead 2 line, and really wanted to see what they could do. No one else has come as close to capturing the likenesses they have for their movie character lines in these scales.

Regardless of the scale, I couldn't be less interested in the comic version. Even though both are based on Caidin's novel, the TV version is the "real" one to me. I would be interested in their Doc Savage and Red Sonja if those get made, however.

Wonder if we'll be seeing a line of Battlestar Galactica figures coming from them since they're also doing a classic BSG comic as well. I'm actually enjoying their The Bionic Man, The Bionic Woman, and BSG comics. A lot more entertaining than the garbage DC and Marvel has been publishing recently. Would be great if they were to produce a repo Kenner line of 13" figures in vintage style Kenner boxes and maybe a 4" line based on the comics as well.

Red Sonja's been on my want list for a LONG time. So has Vampirella, and I'd love it if Dynamite would make retro Mego's of those two, plus characters like Lady Rawhide, Miss Fury and the pulp heroes like Doc Savage and The Shadow.

Maybe Doc/EMCE/Bif Bang Pow or Cast-A-Way should set up a meeting?

I'm delighted that ZICA has a HUGE head start on these. Craig and company need a break. I would imagine the SMDM pie is pretty small.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.
